Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad is a private university established in 1980. The institute is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.
Abhishek: My name is Abhishek. I am an ambitious and enthusiastic individual with a background in sales and marketing, having worked as a sales, marketing and business development executive at Yokogawa India Limited, a Japanese industrial automation MNC. I am pursuing my MBA in marketing at IMT Ghaziabad, aiming to hone my managerial and leadership skills to excel in dynamic and challenging environments.
Careers360: What made you choose IMT Ghaziabad for your postgraduate studies?
Abhishek: IMT Ghaziabad has a reputation as one of India’s top B-schools with a robust alumni network, diverse cohort, and a unique blend of academic rigor and practical exposure. Additionally, the focus on entrepreneurship and innovation perfectly aligns with my aspirations.
Careers360: What was the first thing that struck you about campus life at IMT Ghaziabad?
Abhishek: The vibrant and inclusive campus culture immediately stood out. The energy, collaborative spirit, and myriad opportunities for self-development were genuinely inspiring. Also, the institute provides excellent academic and career opportunities, demonstrating an outstanding track record of placements in reputed organizations.
Careers360: Were there any initial challenges that you faced while at college?
Abhishek: I completed my UG 4 years back and have been working since then. Getting back to the groove of a fast-paced schedule and juggling academics, networking, and extracurriculars was initially overwhelming. However, with time and peer support, I adapted and learned to manage my priorities effectively.
Careers360: Can you walk us through your daily routine at IMT Ghaziabad?
Abhishek: My day typically starts early with morning classes, followed by group discussions and assignments. Afternoons often involve workshops or guest lectures, while evenings are reserved for committee meetings or event preparation. I end my day unwinding with peers or reflecting on the day’s learnings.
Careers360: Please share some valuable experiences you have had on campus.
Abhishek: The days of Milaap, where the new students attended various interactive sessions and got to network with their peers, were something quite memorable and had experiential learning in them. Also, another memorable experience was organizing the convocation ceremony as part of the admissions committee. The collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills I developed were invaluable.
Since joining IMT, I have had many memorable experiences like the initial days of Milaap, where we attended various interactive sessions. These sessions offered not just networking opportunities but also a chance for experiential learning that made a lasting impact. Later, as part of the Admissions Committee, we were fortunate to be involved in the Convocation ceremony of 2024, which strengthened our collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills, all of which have proved invaluable in our personal and professional growth.
Careers360: How influential is your peer group at IMT Ghaziabad and how do peer relationships affect learning motivation?
Abhishek: My peers are a constant source of motivation and learning. Collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds with excellent records in terms of academics, work experience, and extracurriculars not only expands my perspectives but also drives me to push my limits.
Careers360: Name some student committees at IMT Ghaziabad. Are you a part of any such committee?
Abhishek: Some committees include the Admissions Committee, Cultural Committee, Placement Committee and many more. I am an active member of the Admissions Committee, actively participating in the admission activities.
Careers360: Are regular activities like cultural events, sports, and social events conducted at IMT Ghaziabad? Have you participated in any?
Abhishek: Yes, IMT Ghaziabad is known for its vibrant campus life with events like Zest, Dandiya Night, Passion, Chakravyuh, Tedx and many others. I have participated in Zest and Dandiya Night till now, which was a great way to network, relax and experience college life.
Careers360: Did you get a chance to interact with the alumni at IMT Ghaziabad? If yes, what were your takeaways?
Abhishek: Yes, interacting with alumni through guest lectures, networking platforms like Linkedin, and networking events has been insightful. Their experiences and advice have been instrumental in shaping my career goals and understanding industry dynamics.
Careers360: On a scale of 1-5, how much would you rate the overall facilities at IMT Ghaziabad?
Abhishek: I would rate it a 5. The campus has excellent infrastructure, from state-of-the-art classrooms to modern hostels and recreational facilities.
Careers360: What is your favorite place at the college campus and why?
The library is my favourite place on campus because it’s a treasure trove of knowledge and a peaceful spot for reflection and study. Also, I like other spots like Nescafe and Arcus, where you can sit and bond with your peers over lip-smacking snacks and beverages.
Careers360: Being stressed out is common these days. How do you manage your daily stress levels?
Abhishek: I manage stress by maintaining a healthy routine, engaging in sports, practising mindfulness, and spending quality time with friends.
Careers360: In your opinion, how do campus life and interactions positively impact a student's life?
Abhishek: Campus life fosters personal and professional growth by providing a platform to network, learn from peers, and develop critical life skills like teamwork, adaptability, and resilience. Campus life gives you memories to be cherished for a lifetime.
Careers360: What would you miss most about your life at IMT Ghaziabad after you leave?
Abhishek: I will miss the camaraderie with my peers, the engaging discussions with professors, and the overall buzz of campus life that makes every moment memorable and gives an experience of why “IMT never sleeps!”.
