The CAT percentile required for getting a callback from the IIMs is decided based on the CAT exam scores obtained after the normalization. The least percentile for IIM callback is different for various categories. The minimum CAT percentile for IIM for final selection is different from the percentile at which candidates are called by IIMs for the Personal Interview (PI) round. A candidate’s CAT percentile along with the application profile is rated for calls from IIMs.
The candidate needs to obtain the IIM minimum CAT score to get the minimum CAT percentile required for IIM. The candidates can check if their CAT score (after normalization) is good enough to secure the IIM minimum percentile in CAT for IIM callback by using the CAT marks vs percentile table given below.

PwD candidates can expect a call from the IIM for further rounds if they can secure a CAT percentile mentioned in the table below for different IIMs in the country.

The CAT percentile at which IIM calls candidates for the PI round is different for each category and the IIM applied for. For General category applicants, the IIM callback can be expected above the 90 percentile mark.
IIM Bangalore callback can be expected at 98 percentile given the candidate has a good profile score and impressive work experience of at least 2 years. Generally the IIM Bangalore callbacks at above the 99 percentile.
A few IIMs like IIM Sirmaur, IIM Nagpur, IIM Shillong, IIM Rohtak, etc. have had lower accepting percentile for the past few years. Also called baby IIMs candidates with lower CAT percentiles can aim for these colleges.
For IIM Ahmedabad candidates with a strong profile can expect a callback for the PI round above 80 percentile. However, at IIM Ahmedabad the final selection of candidates generally happens above the 99 percentile mark.

The CAT exam requires a significant amount of time for preparation, including brushing up on basic concepts and practicing advanced problem-solving. Starting too early can feel overwhelming and may not be sustainable with other academic commitments.
The CAT exam requires a level of focus and maturity that is not always present in class 9. Starting preparation at this stage can be challenging to maintain. So you just need to boost your fundamentals by practicing more and more at class 9 because the Quantitative Aptitude section of CAT syllabus includes all the topics of Mathematics from Class 9 to 10 such as Arithmetic, Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry and Mensuration.
