M having poor academics record below 65%, also belongs to Reserve category. is thr any chance for me to get into TOP IIMs, nt interested in Exe-MBA.plz help

Yash Dev Student Expert 19th Nov, 2019
Hello Akash Gupta with this percentage its tough to get into top IIMs but IIMs also consider work experience so I request you to please appear in CAT and give your best as you've less marks in your previous courses so you need to score high in Cat,If a student have 90%in 10th and 90%in 12 and 80%in graduation stand a chance to getting a call from top IIMs even with less percentile in cat around 95-95%tile than you who have score 99%tile.
So yes it's tough to get into top IIMs but still there's hope so do your best.

Feel free to comment if you have any doubt

After hotel management MBA/Msc. is better option or job??

Aman Raj Student Expert 18th Nov, 2019

Hello Vikas

Totally depends upon you. I you are financially sound and can afford all the expenditures for an MBA course then obviously MBA is a better option but if you are in a hurry for the job then please go for it. Do it for 2-3 years, gain some experience and then apply for MBA.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 18th Nov, 2019
hi,
see there is no MBA courses in ICFAI Kolkata. there is two years post graduate program in management. which is also a two years course. admission is offers through Nmat and ibsat exam . ICFAI is a good institute as per student review. many top sales management companies visit the campus. however the average packages is less like 3-5 lpa . it it suits you , you can apply for it. you may apply for other IBS institute in india through IBSAT exam. some other institute which offers MBA courses in Kolkata is,
iiswbm
IMI Kolkata
globesyn business school
praxis business school
BIBS
army institute of management.

I am from engineering background I am doing MBA in dayanand Sagar college of engineering.but I am interested in govt jobs. I am quiting MBA for govt job preparation because studying both is difficult for me. is it a right decision ??

Naveen Meena Student Expert 18th Nov, 2019

Dear Abhishek, first of all if you are confident on your decision then you should implement it. You will be working in a particular field for your rest of life so deciding which one to choose is crucial. Since your interest is in govt. job and not doing MBA you can quit that for preparation for govt job.

But, at this moment give yourself some time and think about it once again. Also, think about do you have any backup plan? Can MBA act as your backup? If you are ready with your answer then act on it and give your 100%.

If both these - preparation & MBA- are not managable then it's your decision which one to choose i.e. Govt job. Working anywhere without interest is just waste of time so, go with your area of interest with proper planning as you are already doing MBA.

All the best

Hope this helps
