Distance MBA Application Cycle
As you can see in the above table, the admission timeline of the different institutes offering Distance MBA programmes vary. While some institutes have a bi-yearly admission cycle in January and July or August and February, the other institutes do not follow a particular season and conduct admission throughout the year.
One of the advantages of the Distance MBA programmes is that the candidates can apply or join the programme according to their convenience.
The pedagogy of the Distance MBA programmes is more inclined towards online delivery of classes and study materials. While IMT-CDL offers online video lectures and gives the students access to digital library, Symbiosis Center for Distance Learning (SCDL) sends books and other study materials to the students’ address. Personal Contact programmes, or classroom programmes are also conducted by institutes like AIMA-CME or Bharthiar University School of Distance Learning.
Compared to the regular full time MBA programmes, Distance MBA programme fees are much lesser and affordable. The average fee for the Distance MBA programmes range from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 1 lakh, while the full time MBA programmes cost no less than Rs. 5-6 lakh.
The schedule of course delivery is flexible and the students are able to choose the convenient mode and schedule of study. For attending the offline mode of classes, students are given the flexibility to choose the class location and timing.
The duration of the programmes generally ranges for 1 to 2 years but the candidates are given bandwidth or flexibility to complete the programme beyond the designated schedule. For example, the minimum duration of the Distance MBA programme of a particular institute is 2 years and the maximum duration of completing the programme is 4 years. However, the students have to ensure that they complete the programme within the maximum duration in order to qualify for the degree.
