  • Master arithmetic concepts such as percentage.

  • Speed matters, but don’t get overconfident.

  • Unlike other topics, data interpretation does not have lots of formulas, it is based on application of simple arithmetic concepts, so practice is paramount.

  • Also read financial newspapers (such as The Economic Times) and try to analyse similar data sets and logically conclude what is being interpreted in the charts.

Common mathematics mistakes

These are the mistakes that you need to avoid.

- Misreading the question

- Spending too much time on one question

- Not checking your work

Communication Ability

Enhancing your reading comprehension part and vocabulary building are interrelated. They are simultaneous processes and need to be done in conjunction with each other.

  • Reading comprehension passages based on a variety of topics – Economics, Literature, Arts, History, Science and Technology, and Philosophy and reading a variety of things makes you familiar with diverse terminology and writing styles. Generally, the students who are into reading, do not find the reading comprehension part very difficult. If you read a mix of things – newspapers, magazines, novels and non-fiction, blogs – it will do wonders for you in terms of vocabulary building as well as reading speed and general understanding of the text.

However, this is a lengthy procedure that requires patience and effort. If you don't have much time, stick to newspaper reading since there is no other source as diversified as a newspaper. There are news and articles on everything, including economics, politics, science and technology, literature, the arts, history, and philosophy. Extensive reading is the key.

Note down the difficult words that you come across while reading. Look up the meanings of those words and note them down in a notebook dedicated to vocabulary learning. It is always advisable to write down the part of speech of the word and at least one example sentence in simple language containing the word that you have just learned. It helps you better understand and remember the word. For this purpose, try to make your own sentence, possibly somehow related to your own life. That way the word will stick with you.

Besides, learn vocabulary from a book. The best would be Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis.

  • To improve your Reading Comprehension part, you should focus on your vocabulary and reading speed. Tracing the text line by line using a pen or your finger allows you to concentrate on what you're reading rather than your eyes picking up words from other lines or rereading words. This is referred to as the Pacer approach. You should also extend your eye span, which will help you read faster. Eye span refers to the quantity of words you can read in a single look without moving your eyes.

You can also practise speed reading methods like Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP). This is a scientific method that can help with attentional focus.

Form the habit of writing down or highlighting key points and after reading the whole article try to summarize the main points. This will help you in overall understanding, information retention and in identifying the keywords that help you in getting the main idea of the passage.

  • Regular practice of mock tests and previous years’ questions while keeping a track of the time taken to solve is essential to ace this section. Practise more and more. Monitor the time you take and the mistakes that you make.

  • While solving the passage, it is a time-tested strategy to go through the questions first. Then you can skim through the passage to get a general overview of the content keeping in mind the questions. This will help you in identifying the keywords and main points and let you focus on the things which have been asked rather than trying to grasp the whole paragraph which can be daunting considering the time crunch. This helps you a lot if the passage is of a data-based model. Remember, your strategy has to be based on the questions that you face on the day of the exam. There is no sure-shot method when it comes to reading comprehension.

Logical Reasoning

  • Logical Reasoning demands analytical thinking and a sharp mind. Familiarize yourself with the types of questions that are asked and practise extensively because a number of permutations and combinations are possible and your rational thinking and analytical aptitude will be tested. Solve all previous years’ questions of AP ICET.

  • While solving a question, you need to thoroughly read all the information that is given and note the details in short. Do not assume any information. Depending on the type of question, make diagrams, tables, charts and symbols on the basis of the details provided. Read all the statements carefully and make the deductions.

  • If the question is taking too much time, leave it and move on to the next one. Come back to the question at the end, if you have time left. Here the diagrams, charts, tables and symbols that you made will be of use so always make sure that you make them neatly for your own understanding later.

  • Sometimes, you may think you have found the correct answer and mark it as your answer in a hurry without reading the other options carefully which may be more accurate.

  • In general, you need to work on improving your reasoning and analytical power. There can be fun ways of sharpening your mind like brain teaser games and Puzzle . Sudoku, Chess, crosswords and puzzles give your brain the practice of thinking and analysing. They can also be indulged in when you take breaks from your study sessions because they enhance your analytical power. But remember, every break from study sessions should not be utilized for such brain teasers because, after all, your brain needs to relax during that time.

Questions related to APICET

Have a question related to APICET ?

Yes, it's generally true that you cannot save your seat choice without freezing it in the APICET seat allotment process. This is a standard procedure implemented by most counseling authorities to ensure the smooth and efficient allotment of seats.

Here's why the freeze option is mandatory:

  • Preventing Seat Blocking: Freezing your choice prevents you from blocking a seat that you might not ultimately accept.
  • Efficient Seat Allocation: By freezing your choice, the counseling authority can move on to the next candidate, ensuring that all available seats are filled efficiently.
  • Fairness: This system ensures fairness to all candidates by preventing seat hoarding.

If you don't freeze your choice, your preferences will not be saved, and you might lose the opportunity to get the allotted seat. Therefore, it's crucial to carefully consider your options and freeze your choice accordingly.

Remember: Once you freeze your choice, you cannot modify it. So, make sure you're confident about your selection before proceeding.

Unfortunately, with a rank of 2204 in AP ICET, it's unlikely that you can secure a seat in JNTU Vizianagaram. JNTU Vizianagaram is a popular choice among AP ICET candidates, leading to high competition for seats. The cutoff ranks for JNTU Vizianagaram are generally much lower than 2204.

While JNTU Vizianagaram might not be feasible, you can explore other options:

  • Other JNTU Campuses: Consider other JNTU campuses like Kakinada, Anantapur, or Hyderabad.
  • Private Colleges: There are several good private colleges in Andhra Pradesh that offer MBA programs.
  • Lower Tier Colleges: Explore colleges with lower cutoffs to increase your chances of admission.

I hope this information helps you.

You will definitely get seat but not in top institute at such low rank generally rank below 10000 is not good for apicet you may get Prasad V Potluri Siddhartha Institute of Technology,Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science,Pydah College of Engineering and Technology etc.

Predicting your chances of securing an MCA seat in JNTUK with a rank of 1146 in the BCA category is challenging without the specific cutoff data for this year.

However, given that you belong to the BCA category and are a female candidate, your chances of securing a seat in JNTUK are reasonably good. The BCA category often has lower cutoffs compared to the general category, and there are also reservations for women candidates, which can work in your favor.

To get a clearer picture, you should:

  1. Check the previous year's cutoffs: Analyze the cutoff trends for the BCA category and female candidates in JNTUK.
  2. Consider different colleges: JNTUK has multiple campuses and colleges. Explore options beyond the main campus.
  3. Participate in counseling: Attend the APICET counseling process to understand your exact position and available options.

Remember, the final decision depends on various factors, including the total number of applicants, available seats, and the performance of other candidates.

hope this helps you!!
