Based on initial feedback from candidates, the CMAT 2025 exam was easier compared to CMAT 2024. Experts believe that candidates scoring 360+ marks in CMAT 2025 have a strong chance of securing a 99 percentile.
The Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation section was relatively easy and more manageable than the CMAT 2024 paper. This year, the section focused heavily on arithmetic topics.
Two questions were from Time, Speed, and Distance, including one that compared the speeds of a leopard and a tiger.
Ratio and Proportion had one question, while Mixtures and Alligation had two.
There was one question each from Simple and Compound Interest, and three questions from Probability.
A tricky probability question involved 20 students sitting around a round table, asking about the probability of A and B sitting together under different conditions.
The Data Interpretation question was based on a management training institute offering five courses, with two pie charts showing placement statistics—one for students who got placed and another for those who didn’t.
There was also a Geometry question related to the perimeter of a triangle.
Overall, while the section was doable, it was time-consuming.
The Logical Reasoning section was also considered manageable.
Two questions were asked from the Blood Relations topic.
Critical Reasoning had a significant weightage, with 4 to 6 questions.
The paper also included one question each from Series, Clocks, and Figure Counting (where candidates had to count the number of squares in a given figure).
One of the major highlights of the Language Comprehension section was the absence of lengthy Reading Comprehension passages, unlike exams like CAT, XAT, or SNAP.
The section included two Para Jumble questions and three to four Sentence Correction questions.
Synonyms and antonyms were asked in a "Match the Following" format, similar to SNAP.
One question required identifying the type of noun, while another asked candidates to determine the type of narrative (first, second, or third person).
Overall, the section was of moderate difficulty, and its difficulty level depended on the candidate’s preparation.
As expected, the General Awareness section had more Static GK questions than Current Affairs.
Around 2-3 questions were from Current Affairs.
History had 3-4 questions, while Geography and Environment had three questions.
Experts suggest that at least seven questions in this section were relatively easy to attempt.
The difficulty level of this section depended on the candidate’s level of preparation.
This section primarily featured Statement and Reasoning-based questions, which required candidates to apply basic business logic correctly. Questions covered topics such as venture capitalists and entrepreneurs.
Based on initial feedback from candidates, the CMAT 2025 Shift 2 exam held on January 25, 2025, was largely considered easier compared to the previous year's exam (CMAT 2024). Experts predict that candidates scoring 360+ marks have a good chance of achieving a 99 percentile this year.
The Quantitative Aptitude section was rated as easy to moderate. While some questions were straightforward, others required careful time management. Key topics included Profit and Loss, Compound Interest, Simplification, and Ratio and Proportion. Students found the Ratio and Proportion questions particularly time-consuming, but manageable with a systematic approach. Some notable questions included:
Profit and Loss: A multi-step problem that required some patience but was solvable.
Compound Interest: A slightly challenging question that tested knowledge of the compound interest formula.
Simplification: Basic arithmetic questions were quick and easy.
Ratio and Proportion: Lengthy problems that took more time due to their complexity.
Despite these variations in difficulty, the section was manageable for those who practiced and managed their time effectively.
The Logical Reasoning section was generally considered easy. The questions were straightforward, focusing on general reasoning skills. Common question types included:
Venn Diagram: Understanding relationships between sets.
Seating Arrangement: Arranging people based on given criteria.
Coding-Decoding: Decoding messages based on a given pattern.
Analogy: Identifying relationships between pairs of words or symbols.
Candidates familiar with reasoning puzzles found this section easier to navigate compared to others.

Direct and Indirect Speech: Simple transformations.
Idioms and Phrases: Matching idioms with their meanings.
Reading Comprehension: Shorter passages requiring an understanding of the writer's perspective.
Grammar: Questions on sentence structure, tense usage, and parts of speech.
Sentence Types: Recognizing simple and compound sentence structures.
Active and Passive Voice: Transforming sentences between forms.
Para Jumbles: Arranging sentences to form a coherent paragraph.
This section was easier for candidates with a solid grasp of grammar and vocabulary.
The General Awareness section was rated as moderate. It had a mix of current affairs and static GK, with a stronger focus on Indian politics. Some key areas included:
Election Knowledge: Questions about the Election Commissioner of India and related topics.
Freedom Fighters: Questions about prominent independence activists.
Indian Folk Dances: Questions about various regional dances.
Committees and Banks: Questions related to committees and banking facts.
Famous Places: A question about the Golden Temple.
While some students found 10-12 questions manageable, this section was generally seen as more challenging compared to the others.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship section was considered moderate. The questions focused on basic business and entrepreneurial concepts such as business strategies, innovation, and economic factors. Some questions were challenging for candidates without a strong understanding of business concepts, but those who were prepared performed better. Hii,
No, not all MBA programs require these tests. These are merely entrance exams that are accepted by a lot of universities. Depending on the college you wish to attend, you can take any of them (such as MAH CET, MAT, XAT, GMAT, CMAT, or ATMA).
Additionally, some universities have entrance exams of their own. Therefore, for the majority of MBA admissions, you only need to take one appropriate exam. To find out which tests the college accepts, always visit their website.
Hii,
It may be challenging to gain admission to an MBA program through common entrance based on rank if you have not taken the CMAT. Don't worry, though! Additionally, a lot of colleges offer direct admission based on your graduation grades or through state-level exams, MAT, or XAT.
For information on each college's admissions procedure, visit their websites. Certain private universities also allow management quota admissions or have their own exams. You can still enroll in an MBA program even if you don't have a CMAT. Continue your exploration!
Hii,
It is possible to gain admission to certain MBA programs without taking the CMAT exam. Based on your prior grades or interviews, a lot of private colleges grant direct admission. Other tests, such as the CAT, MAT, or GMAT, are accepted by some universities.
However, CMAT or other tests are typically required for government or elite colleges. It is best to inquire about the rules of the college you wish to attend. Therefore, you still have some options even if you don't have CMAT!
Hello aspirant,
MBA candidates are not required to take entrance examinations like the CMAT in order to get admitted. While CAT is a requirement for admission to IIM MBA programs, several Tier-2 and Tier-3 MBA colleges have adopted alternative admissions methods. A lot of MBA schools use entrance tests to choose their students. Colleges administer the XAT and NMAT as MBA entry exams.
Thank you
Hope it helps you
if you belong to general category, the requisite is to get 85 percentiles. it would be quite difficult to get your desirable college. but if that's not the case then, you have chances as the cut offs drops to lower. the admission criteria vary annually based on factors like the number of applicants, seat availability, and category-specific reservations. so, keep checking the official ACPC Gujarat (https://acpc.gujarat.gov.in/) website or contact BKSBM directly for the most accurate and updated information regarding admission eligibility and cutoff
