CAT Important DatesCAT Important Dates 2018 - The application procedure for CAT 2018 had started on August 8, 2018. Eligible candidates can register for CAT 2018 until September 26, 2018. Candidates who successfully register for the exam along with the application fee will be able to download the admit card of CAT 2018 from October 24 onwards. The official notification of CAT 2018 was released by IIM Calcutta, the conducting body of the exam, along with the important dates of CAT 2018, on July 29. Prof. Sumanta Basu is the exam convener this year. CAT or Common Admission Test is a national-level management entrance test conducted by the IIMs every year on a rotational basis. According to the CAT important dates 2018, the exam will be conducted on November 25, 2018 (Sunday) in online mode. Candidates who wish to appear for the exam must check all the important dates of CAT 2018 and other relevant information before applying. This article explains the same.

CAT 2018 Registration: IIM Calcutta has released the application form of CAT 2018 online on August 8, 2018. Before filling the application form, aspirants would need to register for the exam by visiting the official website of CAT 2018. Candidates who successfully register for the exam will get login credentials to through which they will have to log in and fill in the application form by entering the asked details, uploading the photograph, signature and other necessary documents and payment of application fee. A small window of three days has also be given to the registered candidates from September 27 to September 30 to re-upload their photograph incase they uploaded blurred photograph previously in the CAT application form. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria for CAT 2018 before applying. The last date to fill the application form for CAT is September 26, 2018, at 5 PM.


CAT 2018 Admit Card: Candidates who successfully submit the application form along with application fee will be able to download the admit card for CAT 2018 exam from October 24, 2018, 1 PM onwards. The steps to download the admit card will be provided here once it’s available or candidates would be able to download the same through the official CAT website.


CAT 2018 Exam: The official date for CAT 2018 exam is November 25, 2018, Sunday. The exam will be conducted in online mode in two sessions same as the last year.


CAT 2018 Result: IIMs will most probably declare the result of CAT 2018 in the second week of January 2019. The result of last year's exam was declared on January 8. The CAT 2018 result will be declared in the form of scorecard which will carry the overall and sectional scores of the candidates. The same can be downloaded from the official website.

Last year, IIMs allowed the test takers to submit their objections to the question paper and the answer key. It would be interesting to see if they do the same this year.


CAT 2018 Selection Procedure: The selection procedure of CAT 2018 is expected to start in the month of March and likely to continue till May 2019. The selection procedure at IIMs includes Writing Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).  will be conducted from March-May. The courses commence from July.


Last year, around 2,31,000 candidates had applied for the test and 1,99,632 candidates appeared for it. Around 4,000 seats are offered by 20 IIMs. Apart from IIMs, over 100 B-schools across India, both from private as well as public ownership accept CAT scores for admission to their flagship management programmes.

If you have not appeared for the test, then you should simply select No. It won't impact your application or admission chances in anyway.
