This interview with Vakshith S, a PGDM student at MYRA School of Business, is brought to you by Careers360. In this interview, Vakshith talks about the summer internships offered by MSB, Mysore.

Careers360: Tell us something about yourself. (a bit of the background, like graduation, place, and any such thing)

Vakshith: My name is Vakshith. S. I am from Mysuru. I have completed my bachelor’s degree in science at JSS Mysuru and am pursuing my post-graduation in diploma management at Mysuru Royal Academy. I belong to a nuclear family. My hobbies are playing and watching cricket. My strength is that I’m a hardworking, self-motivated person, and I have strong communication skills. I am a quick learner. My short-term goal is to get a job in a reputable company, and my long-term goal is to achieve a good position in the company where I can build my career and help the organisation too.

Careers360: Tell us something about your MYRA School of Business campus and what made you choose it

Vakshith: MSB provides a dynamic learning environment with a strong focus on practical education. The faculty are experienced and supportive. I chose this campus because of its reputation for quality management education and the opportunities it offers

Careers360: What is the course you are pursuing at MYRA School of Business, and what made you choose this specialisation?

Vakshith: I'm currently pursuing my PGDM with a dual specialisation in Marketing and Operations. I chose Marketing because I enjoy being creative and understanding what drives people’s choices. At the same time, I picked Operations because I like working with processes and figuring out how to make things run more smoothly and efficiently. Together, both give me a well-rounded view of how businesses work

Careers360: Summer internship is mandatory in all MYRA School of Business campuses. Where did you pursue it and what was the duration? What were the steps to get into it?

Vakshith: I’m currently pursuing a two-month internship at Marken. A UPS Company, based in Bangalore, as part of my academic program. I’m interning here along with two of my classmates, and we were able to secure this opportunity through a reference from one of their brothers who works at the company. At Marken, we are interning in the Operations department.

Marken is a global leader in supply chain solutions for the life sciences industry, specialising in clinical trial logistics and cold chain management. As interns, we are gaining exposure to logistics operations, understanding the coordination required for time and temperature-sensitive shipments and data management. This experience is helping us learning with real-world logistics and operations

Careers360: Please give details on the assistance you received from the faculty, peers and placement office concerning the internships?

Vakshith: We received valuable guidance from our faculty in preparation for the internship. Although the internship opportunity at Marken was secured through a personal reference and not through the placement office, our faculty conducted sessions to help us understand how to adapt to an internship environment. These sessions covered important topics such as how to handle tasks independently, what to do when no immediate work is assigned, and how to communicate effectively and professionally in a corporate setting.

Careers360: How was your experience with the summer internships? What are the key takeaways that you can look back on from it?

Vakshith: My summer internship at Marken was a valuable learning experience. It gave me practical exposure to how operations are managed in a global logistics company, especially one that handles sensitive pharmaceutical shipments. I also understood the importance of precision logistics and the coordination required in supply chain management. I also learned that communication and teamwork is key in an organisation. Overall, it helped me connect to real-world applications and gave me more clarity on how I want to shape my career going forward.
