TISSNET Selection Procedure 2018 - Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai is the conducting body of TISSNET and defines the selection procedure of TISSNET 2018 exam. The selection procedure goes through different stages. TISSNET 2018 selection procedure consists of National Entrance Exam, Pre-Interview Test/Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Candidates need to register themselves online for the exam. However, all the candidates applying for the TISSNET exam must fulfill the eligibility criteria as prescribed by Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Only the eligible candidates would be able to appear for the exam. Candidates who fulfill the cutoff will be short-listed for TISSNET selection procedure 2018.
As soon as the TISSNET 2018 result is declared on January 27, 2018, TISS, Mumbai announced the list of short-listed candidates for the next round of the selection procedure. Deciding Factors for TISS 2018 Selection Procedure
1. Nation Entrance Exam (TISSNET)
To enter the selection procedure of TISS, Candidates need to qualify TISSNET 2018 exam. To qualify, candidates need to obtain at least 35% (for SC/ST) and 45% (for others) in the exam. Candidates who qualify will be called for the second round of the selection process.
2. Pre-Interview Test/Group Discussion (PIT-GD)
This is the second stage of the selection procedure. TISS also checks the analytical ability and communication skills of the candidates through a pre-interview test and group discussion.
3. Personal Interview (PI)
In order to know a candidate better before offering admission to his/her, TISS organises personal interviews. In this round, candidates are generally asked about their academics, work experience (if any), goals in life, current affairs etc.
To get admission in TISS, candidates need to perform almost equally well at all the stages. All the three stages of the selection process have different weightage. Although TISSNET exam has the maximum weightage, the selection of a candidate is based on the cumulative performance in TISSNET, PIT/GD and PI. Let’s see the marks given to the each factor.

TISSNET 2018 Marking Scheme - The total marks of TISSNET 2018 are divided into three parts based on the exam pattern of the exam. There are three major sections in the exam – General Awareness/Social Sensitivity, English Language, Maths & Logical Reasoning. Let’s see the weight-age given to each section in TISSNET 2018.

In case two students get equal marks at the end of the selection procedure, their PI marks will be compared and the one with more marks will get the admission. However, if there are equal marks in PI, their PIT marks will be compared and the one with more marks will get the admission. In case PIT marks are also equal, their entrance exam marks will be compared. But, if there is a tie in all the sections, the one with the higher age will get the admission.
Candidates selected for admission at TISS will have to submit the following documents to complete the admission process.
Scanned copies of paid fees challan (fees can be paid at any SBI branch)
Admission acceptance letter
Mark-sheets of X, XII and all the semesters of Bachelor’s degree
Caste and Income certificate for SC/ST/OBC candidates
All the above-mentioned documents should be sent to [email protected] as per the important dates of TISSNET 2018 to confirm provisional admission to TISS. Selected candidates will also go through pre-admission medical check-up conducted by the medical officers of the institute.
