Careers360: Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested or you switched?

Akshay: Currently working as a Senior Product Manager at Williams-Sonoma India. It’s exciting & privilege to be working with the US & Canada’s largest Home Furnishing & Lifestyle Brands.

Careers360: Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?

Akshay: Started as an Assistant Sales Manager 7 years back at Bajaj Finserv, I found my way toward the field that interests me to the core. After spending 3.5 years in Sales and Category Management, I have pivoted my field to Product Management.

Careers360: Is the Industry work different from what you learned at IMS Ghaziabad?

Akshay: The industry works differently because it’s impossible to replicate the real work scenarios. What’s important is how much you are prepared to face the real world.

Careers360: How do you think your time in college has added value to your life, both professional and personal?

Akshay: I have always been grateful for my time at IMS. The environment & faculties have always encouraged me to work on my Communication Skills which ultimately boosts my confidence.

Careers360: What was your initial thought process when you joined IMS Ghaziabad?

Akshay: When I saw my seniors hosting the Induction program on the very first day at IMS, I was amazed & scared. Amazed by their confidence and communication skills and scared about the thought of whether I would be able to achieve the same or not.

Careers360: You must have spent a memorable time at IMS Ghaziabad. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.

Akshay: Always miss the life at IMS. There are a lot of good memories like Hosting & Organising Melange Annual Fest, last-minute PPT creation & doing well in presentations and there’s much more.

Careers360: Briefly takes us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do, and your routine life.

Campus life was amazing and even better staying at the IMS hostel. Never missed out on morning lectures and always ensured to attend all the Communication Skills classes (PPSP), always led the group presentation never missed guest lectures as there’s always a lot to learn from someone’s experiences.

Careers360: Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in and how did it enrich your life?

Akshay: I have been a part of as many cultural & organizing committees as possible. The placement cell, Melange Core Committee, and many more. Also, have anchored in more than 15 events during my PGDM days. It helped me gain confidence in public speaking and enhance my communication skills.

Careers360: How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements and what was the role of the institute in it?

Akshay: Being active on LinkedIn and following relative fields’ keywords. Always be updated about the trends and upcoming technologies. Try to be a flag bearer of good practices in your company.

Careers360: You are a proud alumnus of this top College. What is the best part of the Institute from a student's perspective?

Akshay: The ample opportunities to learn and be a part of multiple practical classes and activities rather than simply focusing on textual knowledge.

Careers360: What is your suggestion/guidance for the future aspirants?

Akshay: Enjoy your life at college, make as many memories as possible, and try not to hesitate to be part of new things. Never pull or push anyone down. Believe in yourself.
