Careers360 presents you an interview with Annadi Rohith Reddy who is a MBA student at IBS Hyderabad. He shares her views on campus life, summer internships, and placements in the institution. Go through the interview to learn more about the ICFAI Business School Hyderabad.

Careers360: Tell us something about yourself. (a bit of the background like graduation, place and any such thing)

Annadi Rohith Reddy: I am Annadi Rohith Reddy, and I am from Karimnagar, Telangana. I am currently pursuing my MBA second year at ICFAI Business School, with a major in Operations and a minor in Marketing.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, which has given me a strong foundation in technology and problem-solving. While I have developed solid technical skills through my academic journey, I am equally focused on strengthening my managerial capabilities. I believe that combining both technical competence and managerial expertise enables me to contribute effectively, adapt to dynamic business environments, and grow both professionally and personally.

Careers360: Tell us something about your IBS campus and what made you choose it?

Annadi Rohith Reddy: The primary reason I chose IBS was its strong focus on case-based learning. The teaching methodology here emphasizes real-life business scenarios, which enables us to connect theoretical concepts with practical application. This hands-on learning approach has greatly enhanced my problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Additionally, IBS offers a culturally and academically diverse environment, with students from various states and educational backgrounds. Interacting with such a diverse peer group has enriched my learning experience, fostering collaboration, cross-cultural understanding, and personal growth beyond academics.

The well-equipped infrastructure and the green, vibrant campus environment also played a key role in my decision, as it provides an ideal atmosphere for both learning and development.

Careers360: What is the course you are pursuing at IBS and what made you choose this specialisation?

Annadi Rohith Reddy: I chose Operations as my major because I have a strong interest in understanding how businesses function at the core — from processes and systems to efficiency and execution. With my technical background, I believe operations provides a strong foundation to apply analytical thinking, problem-solving, and structured decision-making. It allows me to explore how organizations optimize resources, improve productivity, and deliver value effectively.

At the same time, I selected Marketing as my minor because operations and marketing are closely interconnected in achieving business objectives. While operations ensure efficient delivery, marketing helps understand customer needs and market dynamics. By studying both, I gain a holistic view of the business — from backend process efficiency to front-end customer strategy. It also helps me better understand how real-world business decisions are made and executed.

Careers360: Summer internship is mandatory in all IBS campuses. Where did you pursue it and what was the duration? What were the steps to get into it?

Annadi Rohith Reddy: At IBS, the Summer Internship Program (SIP) is a compulsory and integral part of the curriculum, designed to provide real-time corporate exposure. I completed my SIP with TGSRTC in the Operations Department, under the role of Depot Operations Excellence.

This internship offered me valuable insights into how large-scale operations are managed on a daily basis. I gained practical understanding of operational planning, process monitoring, resource allocation, and performance improvement at the depot level. It served as a miniature preview of real-world corporate functioning, helping me connect classroom concepts with practical execution.

The internship selection process involves meeting the SIP requirements set by IBS and going through technical and basic HR interviews, through which I secured this opportunity. The duration is for 3 months.

Careers360: Please give details on the assistance you received from the faculty, peers and placement office with regard to the internships?

Annadi Rohith Reddy: Throughout the SIP process, the faculty, placement team, and peers played a significant role in supporting and guiding me. The faculty helped us connect our internship responsibilities with the concepts we would later specialize in during our second year, ensuring strong academic alignment. The placement officers provided continuous guidance, from interview preparation to opportunity tracking, which made the selection process structured and seamless.

Additionally, peer learning was very impactful. We shared insights, prepared together, and motivated each other throughout the journey. During the three-month internship period, we were also encouraged to enhance our skills through relevant courses and self-learning modules, which further enriched our exposure and understanding.

Careers360: How was your experience with the summer internships? What are the key takeaways that you can look back on from it?

Annadi Rohith Reddy: My internship experience was extremely enriching. I gained strong technical exposure and developed a clear understanding of industry expectations from fresh graduates entering the corporate world. Beyond technical learning, I also enhanced essential soft skills such as teamwork, collaboration, and professional communication, which are crucial in any work environment.

This experience helped me build a solid foundation in my domain and provided practical clarity on how operations function in real-time scenarios. Overall, it was a valuable learning phase that strengthened both my technical competencies and my professional mindset.
