Stage 1: IIM Amritsar Pre-Personal Interview (PI) Process

The first stage will be applied to all eligible candidates who have appeared for CAT 2024 to shortlist candidates for PI. The first shortlist will consist of candidates who have secured a pre-determined minimum percentile score in each section and an overall score of CAT 2024. Candidates obtaining a positive raw score in all sections of the CAT 2024 exam will be considered. Further processing for PI will be done only for candidates who will be selected in this first shortlist.

The pre-determined minimum percentile cut-off scores applicable for the first shortlist for CAT 2024 for the MBA batch of 2025-2027 are given in below:

  • The next processing for scores standardization and selection for PI will be limited to the shortlisted candidates.
  • The shortlisted candidate’s percentage scores in class 10 and 12 board exams will be initially adjusted by dividing each such score by the 90th percentile score obtained in their particular board.
  • An adjusted score will be calculated for the candidate's graduating discipline. This will be done by dividing the percentage of final scores that are obtained in the bachelor’s degree and/or professional degrees, by the 90th percentile score. Incomplete or intermediate graduate scores will only be considered if the candidate's final graduation score is pending. Thus, final-year bachelor’s degree candidates would take their incomplete graduation score instead of their final graduation score.

The IIM Amritsar selection process, parameters, and weights used will be equal for all categories of candidates. Sufficient candidates will be shortlisted at each stage from each social category to meet the reserve requirement for each group, as applicable for that particular IIM Amristar admissions process.

Hello,

The CAT test is the initial requirement for admission to the IIMs. The Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview are the following phases (PI). The WAT and PI are the primary selection factors for admission to IIM MBA. They take place following the release of the CAT results. Candidates are shortlisted for WAT and PI if they fulfil the CAT cutoff. Final admission decisions are made based on a candidate's entire profile, which includes their CAT, academic, work, and category scores as well as their WAT and PI scores.

Look at the IIM's qualifying requirements below:

  • The minimum graduation requirement for admission to an IIM is 50% overall, or an equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST, and PWD/DA categories).
  • Candidates who are taking the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification test in their final year or who are awaiting their results may also apply.
  • The candidates must satisfy the IIM shortlist/qualifying cut off in order to be called for an IIM interview.
  • The minimal IIM call cut off must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for interview calls and to take part in WAT/GD-PI.

So, you are eligible to apply for CAT to get into IIM.

There are so many IIM and you are eligible for all if you CAT cutoff is above 90.

IIM colleges like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode and many more.

Try hard and give your best to clear CAT and personal interview.

Best Wishes for your future.

Thank You

Hello Aspirant,

Hope you are doing well !

Keeping in mind, both K J Somaiya Institute of Management, and IIM Amritsar both are really good colleges, in my opinion, IIM Amritsar would be the better option.

Though K J Somaiya's Highest package(26.5 LPA) is more than IIM Amritsar's(25.21 LPA). IIM Amritsar's average placement(14.63 LPA) is better than the other(10.59 LPA).

Also one of the most important quality you get in an IIM is it's brand. There is no doubt that IIM Amritsar has a brand much stronger than the other.

Hope my answer would help you.

Hi dear,

Master of Business Administration or MBA is a two year post-graduate programme offered by many institutes in India. However, the admission for the same is not done just on the basis of your 10th, 12th and graduation marks but rather on various other factors like score in mba entrance, performance in GDPI/ WAT rounds, and work experience. Also these marks are not only relevant at the time of placement but also at the time of admission. But if you work hard and try scoring a percentile above 95 in CAT then you can get into good bschools of india. For top IIIMs try getting a percentile as high as possible.
