Careers360: Tell us about yourself and what made you choose the college as your alma mater?
Himanshu Tomar: My name is Himanshu Tomar, and I am from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. I chose IBS Pune because of its case-based teaching approach and an industry-oriented curriculum. The program is designed to match current market needs and trends, which helps students become more practical and industry-ready
Careers360: How would you describe the overall academic atmosphere on campus?
Himanshu Tomar: The academic atmosphere at IBS Pune is comprehensive, robust, and focused on learning. The institute emphasizes developing a strong learning mindset with special focus upon problem solving and practical application of the concepts learnt in the classroom.
Careers360: Do you find the library, labs, and digital resources sufficient for your academic needs?
Himanshu Tomar: Yes, the library has an excellent collection of books covering various domains and themes, along with a positive and focused reading environment. The IT lab is equipped with the latest industry-based modules such as SPSS and SAP. Working on these tools has helped me gain practical insights into real-world operations and business dynamics.
Careers360: How approachable and supportive are the faculty members outside the classroom?
Himanshu Tomar: The faculty members makes classroom environment comfortable which helps the students to build a healthy bond with the faculties. Outside of the classroom faculties are friendly, solves even personal problems when it’s in their capacity.
Careers360: Are there opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, research, or innovation?
Himanshu Tomar: Yes, IBS Pune provides practical exposure through case studies, guest lectures, and application-based assignments. We also prepare and present presentations across different subjects, which helps widen our exposure. Additionally, the institute organizes industry visits to help us understand how different sectors operate in real-world settings.
Careers360: What student clubs, committees, or organizations are most active and engaging?
Himanshu Tomar: IBS Pune has nine active clubs across different domains such as Marketing, Finance, HR, and Operations. The college also conducts weekly management games to make learning more engaging. Special clubs like the Research Club focus on innovation and overall student development, while the Silver Tongue Club promotes public speaking and communication skills. These activities keep the campus lively, interactive, and full of learning opportunities.
Careers360: Are events like cultural fests, sports meets, and social activities held regularly at GGU? If yes, did you participate, and how was the experience?
Himanshu Tomar: Yes, the annual fest of IBS Pune, Zeal, brings together students from various colleges across Pune to participate in management games, sports, and cultural events. I have participated as well as organized events during Zeal. It was a very enriching experience that allowed me to work with diverse people and see creative ideas come to life.
Careers360: Do you have a favorite spot on campus? If so, what is it, and why does it stand out to you
Himanshu Tomar: My favourite spot on campus is the cafeteria. It’s where I’ve built connections and weaved deeper relations with my peers, shared meals, and planned for various club events. It also serves as a common place to interact with juniors and exchange ideas in a relaxed setting.
Careers360: How effective is the career services/placement cell in guiding and preparing students?
Himanshu Tomar: The placement cell at IBS Pune plays a crucial role in preparing students for their corporate journey. It is highly active and ensures that we are well-informed about upcoming placement opportunities through regular updates and sessions. The cell conducts pre-placement talks, aptitude training, and mock interviews to help us gain confidence and clarity about the process. Additionally, programs like PACT and SLP provide valuable guidance on personality development, communication, and understanding industry expectations.
Careers360: What challenges do you face in balancing academics with extracurricular activities?
Himanshu Tomar: The course at IBS Pune is fast-paced, which sometimes makes it challenging to balance academics, extracurricular activities, and personal life. Since the curriculum moves quickly, missing even a few classes can make it difficult to catch up. However, the faculty members are very supportive and ensure that students stay on track. They often help in revising earlier topics while introducing new concepts, making the overall learning process smooth and manageable.
Careers360: Are there any suggestions/ improvements you would like to see to make campus life better?
Himanshu Tomar: Overall, my course experience has been pleasant and enriching. One area of improvement could be the introduction of industry-based simulation games. These simulations would give students a more practical platform to apply their learnings in real-time scenarios and develop a deeper understanding of business dynamics.
Careers360: What is one memory from your time at the college that you think you'll cherish the most after you graduate?
Himanshu Tomar: One of the most memorable moments for me was receiving the award for Best Intern. It was a proud achievement that recognized my consistent effort, learning attitude, and ability to apply classroom concepts in a real work environment. The recognition not only boosted my confidence but also motivated me to keep improving and take on new challenges with greater responsibility.

Himanshu Tomar: Yes, I would definitely recommend IBS Pune. The program is well-designed with an industry-relevant curriculum and experienced faculty who focus on practical learning.
