Hello sir /madem I have backlogs in graduation and apart from this my educational background is not so good, I got 57% in SSC and 62% in HSC

Siddhant Student Expert 9th Aug, 2019

See your backlogs will actually not matter during MBA admissions , but you have to clear your backlogs first before joining MBA in any college . Regarding your educational background also it will matter in some colleges like IIM'S , but other than IIM'S there are also many good colleges in India . Never let your past ruine your future . You can appear for CAT /XAT exam if you have 50% in graduation and final year students can also apply for CAT .  Getting calls from top colleges will be difficult because they do complete evaluation before selecting the students . If you do well in CAT/ XAT exam like score above 95 percentile in CAT , you may get a call . But if you show any work experience for a year or two , there will be little more  changes to get a call . Also your category will also depend , if you are from SC or ST category you know their changes of getting admission is better than a general category student . But it is not end of the world , do well in your CAT first do not think of admissions . There are also students not getting in IIM'S or any top MBA  college but they even get package of RS 20 lakhs per annum. It is because of their knowledge and skills . So do well . All the best

Right now I am studying in std 12th and going to appear boards in Feb 2020 so in which month(2020) is XAT(Bachelor degree) going to be held?

NILUTPOL Student Expert 6th Aug, 2019
Hello
You are not eligible for XAT exam now as it needs a bachelor's degree in any discipline. You are just about to complete your 12 boards. You have to first complete graduation in some discipline.

Eligibility criteria
Candidate applying forXAT 2020must have a graduation degree from any stream from a recognized institute or university.

The graduation degree should be of a minimum of three years.

There is no specific cut off percentage or CGPA to be obtained during graduation.

Candidates who are in the final year of graduation are also eligible for XAT 2020, provided that they receive their graduation degree before the admission process of XAT is completed.
There is no specified age limit for appearing in XAT 2020

When do we have to apply for XAT(St Xaviers aptitude test, BMS)? As soon as we clear 12th, if not then when?

Sunanda Dhar Student Expert 6th Aug, 2019

XAT is the Xavier Aptitude test which is held by the Xavier Labour Relation Institute on behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institute. It is used all across the country for courses like MBA and PGDM by more than 800 institutes. Next year XAT will be conducted in January 2020. It is an online test of 3 hours and is considered one of the hardest of its kind and thus requires the utmost dedication and awareness.

It is divided into 4 sections of Verbal Ability, Quantitative aptitude, Decision making, and GK and thus requires you to have a strategy for each and every section individually as for the test of this stature requires the best of your preparation to secure the seat in the institute of your dreams.

Now for the Decision making, I would suggest you should take up to 50–55 minutes but can add more 5–7 minutes according to your ability and situation at the time of the exam as this is the most needlessly apprehensive section and thus is the most scoring one too. Thus try to maximize your score in this section.

For verbal I would suggest going for the RCs first because those are the most scoring and the easiest as you just need to find the answers from the passage themselves and not use any kind of concepts or whatever to solve the questions.

Now for the Quant section, I would take that you know this because you know maths but this isn't the truth you need to practice each and every topic so that you can make the most out of this section as it is the most probable to make you lose your marks.

For GK I would say that a score of 6–8 will be sufficient and not more than 10 minutes will be needed. Also for its preparation, you would be needing past 3 months facts and news.

Solve the previous 5 years XAT papers under actual exam conditions and analyze your performance. Focus on Decision Making questions.

Hope you find it helpful

let me know in the comment box if you are having any further doubts

thanks

Good Luck!

I have 48% in b.com and also have exp. Of 24 month.i want to take xat 2020 how much changes that i got a good college. Please suggest me.

harshitasharansrivastava Student Expert 30th Jul, 2019
Hello Aspirant,

As per the information provided by you,  your graduation marks is very poor to get you into good colleges under XAT. But as you have mentioned you have 24 months of experience, this factor will give you edge in selection process. But only the work experience will not suffice to crack top b schools. So you mist at least score 95+ percentile in XAT to get calls from top b schools. You can get detailed information about colleges accepting XAT scores from given link-

Sir i m appearing in cat xat and snap this year want to know which colleges forms are to be filled before these exams

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 1st Sep, 2019
Dear Vishakha, 7.5 CGPA is nothing less. It approximately converts into 71.25. And then you have above 80% in your 10th and 12th. I would suggest you to atleast score 95% in CAT and you can make it to top B Schools or new IIMs. en there is a rating scale for your score in 10th, 12th and Graduation. Have a look at how the rating scale might look like:

10th Rating:

Percent score           Rating Score

<= 55                                    1

> 55 and <= 60                   2

> 60 and <= 70                   3

> 70 and <= 80                   5

> 80 and <= 90                  8

> 90                                    10

So here you score 8 marks.

12th Rating:

Percent score                Rating Score

<= 55                                         1

> 55 and <= 60                        2

> 60 and <= 70                        3

> 70 and <= 80                        5

> 80 and <= 90                        8

> 90                                         10

Here again you score 8 marks.

Percent score in Bachelor's Degree      Rating Score
<= 55                                                                     1
> 55 and <= 60                                                    2
> 60 and <= 62                                                    3
> 62 and <= 65                                                    5
> 65 and <= 70                                                    8
> 70                                                                      10

This is where you score 10 marks. Few top Schools select top 5% of Candidates in each Category to shortlist for WAT and PI rounds. So to be shortlisted, this is how your CAT percentile should look like:

                                       QA          DLR       VARC       Overall
General:                        70             70           70             80
NC-OBC/Trans:           65             65           65             75
SC:                                 60             60           60             70
ST:                                 50             50           50             60
PwD-UR,OBC,SC:       60             60           60              70
PwD: ST:                      50             50          50               60

If you can make this score, then the CAT composite score will be calculated and that will look like this:

Composite score is calculated as follows:
10th Standard: 36*[Z Candidate-Z min/Z max- Z min]
12th Standard: 40*[Z Candidate-Z min/Z max- Z min]
CAT 2019 score: 20*[Candidate's overall score /Highest CAT score]
Gender Diversity Factor: = 4 for female applicants
=0 for other applicants
Composite score= sum of the above scores
Now coming to the final selection, the computation of final composite score is considered as follows:
10th Standard: 10*[Z Candidate-Z min/Z max- Z min]

12th Standard: 10*[Z Candidate-Z min/Z max- Z min]

CAT 2019 score: 20*[Candidate's overall score /Highest CAT score]

WAT score: 20*[Z Candidate -Z min/ Z max-Z min]

PI score: 40* [Z Candidate-Z min/Z max-Z min]
