Xavier Aptitude Test
Hi Abhay,
The work experience weightage with respect to the score is comparatively less so you need to first focus on securing good score. When it comes to work experience it will bore you benefit if it is in some relevant field such as Finance consulting agencies else it won't be much beneficial for you.
FACING SAME PROBLEM DID YOU GOT IT IF YES THEN HOW ?
For 30 - 35 marks you have chances of securing 90 - 95 percentile. Since you got 20 marks in XAT exam, you can get 75 and above percentile. The colleges in which you have chances of getting in are :-
Hi Anirudh,
I really feel bad for your situation and I am not going to give you false hopes. So by your CAT score you may find it difficult to get any calls from the good or average B-Schools. Same is the result with your XAT. However, there is nothing to lose hope. There are few options which you can avail as of now:
Now it’s your call which one to go for. Though there are several colleges which accept low scores but that will a total waste of money unless you are going solely to earn your MBA degree and not placements. If you want to get placed in a good company at the end of the 2 years, then you should one of the two options above.
I hope I have been able to solve your query . All the best!!!
Hi Vidyansh,
Congratulations on having such a nice profile. It’s really great to see that you have maintained consistency over the years and there’s a clear reflection of that. The only thing that is not right here is the marks as it would not amount to a decent percentile in XAT. I will not give you any flowery situation and false hopes but its really difficult to get into any decent B-School with the percentile that you are going to secure. I am giving you the probable marks-percentile break up:
Marks
Percentile
28
89
30
90
32
93
35
95
40
97+
XLRI will consider you for their BM and HR program only if you score 93+ percentile in XAT and they will call you for further shortlisting process. Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar will require you to get 91+ for their BM program and 87+ for their HR program. XISS, Ranchi and XIME, Bangalore will require 70-75+ percentile for their GD/PI process.
What you can do write now is that, if you are hell bent on getting admitted into a Xavier Institution, then you can write XAT for another year. If you are sure to get into a decent B-school this year, then you may have to write other exams like MAT, CMAT, MHCET and ATMA. XIME, Bangalore and Kochi campus accepts MAT score so you can try that.
You would have to get yourself prepared for GD/PI processes too as you won’t be getting any time for preparation after the college gives you the call. Try reading newspapers and go through every other article on latest innovations, research, economy and sports.
No need to worry as there are a lot of good B-Schools, who, I am sure will be more than happy to take you into their course and with your perfect work-experience, companies won’t hesitate either.
I hope I have been able to solve your query. All the best!!!
Hi Mohd Abdullah,
The XAT answer key has been released and you can easily check your marks over there. I am posting the marks vs. percentile break up of XAT and you can guess your percentile. These are approximate assumptions and is done mainly by looking into the trends over the previous years. Mind you that these are not accurate and may vary though not significantly. Your percentile will largely depend on the number of test takers in the country and also the difficulty of the exam. Though XAT is highly favoured among the test takers and the B-Schools and the difficulty level remains almost the same every year, so you can safely assume your percentile from this:
XLRI and XIMB will consider sectional cut offs as these are the flagship colleges that come under XAMI. Rest of the XAMI colleges will only consider your overall percentile.
Other good colleges that you can apply through XAT are:
Apart from that, you need to prepare yourself for the GD/PI process as you won’t be getting any time for preparation once these colleges starts calling the candidates for further shortlistings. Start reading newspapers and practise speaking in English in front of a mirror that will give you confidence if you find it difficult to speak fluently.
I hope I have answered to your query. All the best!!!
