I belong to OEC category.Even if there is state reservation, there is no such option as OEC in CAT EXAM. Is there any chance to get reservation for OEC category

Taabia Fathima 30th Jul, 2025

Hey Vijay:)

Thanks for reaching out!

OEC,(Other Eligible Communities) is a state-specific reservation category used in Kerala, and it is not recognised as a separate category in central-level exams like the CAT.

For Central govt exams candidates must choose from the recognised categories: General,SC,ST,OBC-NCL,EWS or PwD.If your community is listed under OEC-SC or OEC-ST in Kerala, you should check whether it falls under SC or ST in the central list and apply accordingly.

Similarly,If your OEC community is in the central OBC list and you meet the non-creamy layer(NCL)rules, you can apply as OBC-NCL, otherwise you need to apply under the general category.

You can verify caste's status in the central list on the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) website.

Hope this clears your doubt!

I think my ews telangana state neet rank 2000 then I there any possibility of getting MBBS seat in cat A

Abhilasha Agrawal 28th Jul, 2025

With a Telangana EWS state rank of 2000 in NEET 2025, you have a decent chance of getting an MBBS seat under Category A (Convener quota) in government or semi-government medical colleges, especially during the later rounds of counselling. Your chances are higher in newer or peripheral colleges.

Hi, my name on govt id proofs and school marklist has little variation of letters. Which name shoukd I prefer while filling up CAT form

SEJAL JAIN 24th Jul, 2025

If there's a slight variation in your name between your government ID and school marksheets, it's best to use the name exactly as it appears on your 10th or 12th marksheet while filling out the CAT form, since academic records are the primary documents used for verification during admission. However, ensure that the variation isn’t too major if it is, you might consider getting an affidavit or correction done in the future. For now, stay consistent with your academic records to avoid any mismatch during document verification after the exam.

sir my rank in CAT Exam. for Cdec is 5419 , which institute and course will i get

Ayush Madanpotra 18th Jul, 2025

With a CAT rank of 5419, your percentile is around 95 to 97. This means you may not get into the top IIMs like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, or Calcutta, because they usually take students above 98 or 99 percentile. But you still have good chances at newer IIMs and other top MBA colleges.

You can get admission into IIMs like Amritsar, Raipur, Jammu, Udaipur, and Bodh Gaya. These IIMs accept students with lower percentiles, usually between 90 and 94.

Apart from IIMs, you can also get colleges like MDI Gurugram, IMI Delhi, Great Lakes Chennai, and maybe even FMS Delhi or JBIMS Mumbai depending on your category and performance in interview rounds.

You should now start preparing for the interview, group discussions, and written tests that most colleges will conduct after shortlisting you based on your CAT rank.

How many percent in cat need for FMS delhi

Yash Teotia 13th Jul, 2025

Hello Sahitya

For FMS Delhi, your percentile should be 99%+ and it should be 99.5%+ to be on the safer side.

Now coming to the academics:
1. 10th marks: 75%+ are given 10 out of 10
2. 12th marks: 75%+ are given 10 out of 10
3. Graduation marks: FMS doesn't considers graduation marks for screening.

So if you have 75%+ in both 10th and 12th, you will get full marks in academic score.

I have 0 workex and am in 7th Sem, looking to give CAT 25 as an effort attempt and give CAT 2026 with full fledged prep. With 0 workex I know I cant get IIM ABC but what are some other good national level MBA institutes for which I must aim for?

Yash Teotia 13th Jul, 2025

Hello Ayush

This is definitely a myth that with 0 work-ex you can't get IIM ABC because freshers still get into them although the competition is brutal but if you have good academics (9/9/9) and a good CAT (99.5%+), you have a chance.

These are some other good colleges except IIM ABC which you can aim for:

TIER 1:

  1. IIM Lucknow
  2. IIM Kozhikode
  3. IIM Indore
  4. IIM Shillong
  5. FMS Delhi
  6. SPJIMR Mumbai
  7. MDI Gurgaon
  8. IIFT Delhi & Kolkata

Tier 2:

  1. NMIMS Mumbai
  2. SIBM Pune
  3. SCMHRD Pune
  4. IMT Ghaziabad
  5. XIM Bhubaneshwar
  6. GIM Goa
  7. TISS Mumbai
