Hi..my cat score is 64... i have 8 years experience as an architect my tenth , twelth marks are 88% and 78% respectively and cgpa of 6.7 from NIT . what are my chances to get into a reputed college... and can you suggest me possible options

Harshal Achantani 29th Dec, 2024

what i understand from your query is that you wish to pursue your studies and upskill yourself. As mentioned that you have appeared of CAT and scored 64 well there are many universities and colleges that offer MBA on this score too in case you wish to opt for MBA. Apart from that you can look into 3 more options that go well with your field  that is Interior Designing, Certified Land Valuer & Certified Land Surveyor.

To become an Interior Designer you can opt for a Certification Diploma in Interior Designing.

To become a land Valuer, you should have a 5 years experience along with your Bachelors in Civil Engineering or have B.Arch degree. You need to opt for 50 hours of compulsory training from a Registered  Valuer Organisation that is recognised by the IBBI( Insolvency & Bankruptacy Board of India. After the training you need to appear for an exam and score minimum 60%. Once you pass the exam then you can register yourself wit the IBBI for COP ( Certificate of Practice).

The next option is to become a Certified Land Surveyor by clearing the exam conducted by Indian Institute of surveying and Mapping, or Institution of Surveyors, or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. You can visit the websites to register yourself. for your knowledge Land surveyor Licensing Exam is conducted by State Licensing Boards if you wish you can check that also.

In case you wish to opt to work in Government Sector then you can appear for IES (Indian Engineering Services) which is conducted by UPSC.

Please explain the NAARM MBA Admission process, what is the reservation criteria. What is the CAT Cut off for shortlisting to Interview. How should I Prepare for the Interview.

Harshal Achantani 29th Dec, 2024

The candidates who have scored 60% through out their academics that is from 10th to Bachelors need to first apply online and pay an application fee, also they need to upload the required list of documents like 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet, graduation certificate and marks sheet , any other certificates like OBC, ST SC(if any) along with their CAT score. Once the student is shortlisted they are called upon for group Discussion(GD), Analytical Writing skill test (AWST) & Personal interview(PI).  The final shortlisting and filtration or seat allotment is done on 7 parameters that is CAT score, GD, PI, AWST, Academic score, Work experience & Diversity factor.

Now coming to your second query that is preparing for Interview, well you need to be well prepared to answer questions like what is your goal and aspiration, why do you want to opt for this course only , why do you choose this institute , what are your strengths and weaknesses (SWOT) They also might questions pertaining to agriculture to see your passion and interest , to check how updated you are. You can explore through the latest trends in agricultural sector and prepare your pointers accordingly.

The CAT cutoff varies every year also depends on the institution and course that you opt for. The best practice is to be track of all latest updates by visiting  the official website of the institute.

All the best

Sonika Arora 3rd Dec, 2024

Post-CAT processes for top MBA colleges typically include Group Discussions (GD), Written Ability Tests (WAT), and Personal Interviews (PI).

Group Discussion (GD):

The purpose of GD is to test communication, teamwork and assess problem- solving skills.

To prepare for a GD one needs to stay updated on current affairs, practice debating and discussing diverse topics, and develop a clear and concise speaking style.

Written Ability Test (WAT):

The purpose of a WAT is to assess written communication, clarity of thought, and argument structure.

To prepare for a WAT one needs to practice writing essays on current topics, focusing on logic, coherence, and grammar.

Personal Interview (PI):

The purpose of a PI is to evaluate motivation, fit for the program, and personality.

To prepare for a PI one needs to review his/ her academic and professional background, prepare for questions on career goals, current affairs, practice mock interviews and why you want to do an MBA.
