Excerpts from the Careers360 Live Chat with Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey of BIMTECH Greater Noida.
Diya: What score/percentile should I obtain to get admissions at BIMTECH?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: To apply for the Core PGDM course, you need to secure 70 percentile in any one of the entrance examinations, CAT, XAT or GMAT. If you want to take up IB, need to secure 65 percentile in CAT, XAT or GMAT and lastly, you would require obtaining 60 percentile in CAT, XAT or GMAT for IBM/ Retail management programme.
For IBM/Retail, we take admissions through CMAT or MAT as well. You need to score 70 percentile in the mentioned exams to get through.
Garima Gupta: I want to work for a retail company but want to study core programme. Is it safe to go for the core one or shall I consider retail programme?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: If you ask me, I would suggest you choose Retail. Your experience will aid your MBA studies as you will be able to associate the concepts with your practical experience gathered.
Garima Gupta: I am hoping to score 75+percentile in CAT 2017 exam. Will I be eligible to opt for regular MBA Retail programme at BIMTECH? Do retail companies recruit candidates from the core program?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: With 70 percentile CAT result you will be eligible to apply in any of the programmes offered by us. But the final admission will depend on other factors as well. The 10th, 12th and undergraduate scores along with PI and WAT performance will get to BIMTECH.
Placement criteria depend much on the company’s requirement. So it is difficult to give you a straight yes/no response.
Rahul Solanki: Do you conduct all the four programmes (General Management, Insurance, International Business and Retail Management) at Greater Noida campus?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: We run all the management programmes at one campus, i.e. BIMTECH, Greater Noida.
Rituparna Banerjee: High school in 2007, completed Polytechnic in Civil Engg in 2014. Am I eligible for CMAT entrance exams?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: Certainly. You are eligible to appear for CMAT exams. For that matter, you can appear for all the entrance exams related to postgraduate management programme admissions.
Vedika: I have completed B.Com 3rd year in 2017 and have secured 50 percent. Will you consider the aggregate score of BCom degree course or only the Honours marks of second and third years to determine the eligibility criteria for BIMTECH?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: The percentage that is mentioned on your passing certificate is what we will consider during admissions. We shall consider the aggregate of all the three years.
Jazz: Is BIMTECH a sister institute of BITS? Why should I opt for BIMTECH?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: Not at all. BIMTECH is completely a separate unit.
All institutions are unique in their own way, but I can definitely mention that the industry exposure rendered by our college is very extensive because most of our faculty members have good and long industry experience.
Krish: I am very keen to pursue MBA Finance at your institute? Can I opt for direct admission?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: Sorry. We strictly take admission through CAT/ XAT/ GMAT scores/percentiles and do not offer direct admission to anyone under any circumstances.
Arka: Do you provide hostel facilities? If yes, is it on sharing basis or single occupancy? How many students take admissions from South or West India?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: We do provide hostel facility to students. It will be a twin sharing occupancy. Students opine that BIMTECH’s hostel and mess facilities are phenomenal and often call ‘Home away from home.’
The number of students from either South or West India varies but on an average, we usually have 23 percent students from South and West Indian states.
Jogesh: What was the highest package and which specialisation did the employer hire the candidate for?
Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey: The highest package awarded to students was Rs. 20 LPA from PGDM core domain.
