Placement Reports contain a set of information which will help you analyze the recruitment trend and the salary package offered in a particular year. The information that the Placement Report will give you are as follows:

The placement reports can be divided into 2 types, Summer Placement Report and Final Placement Report.
B-School Summer Placement Report
At the end of the first year, the candidates undergo Summer Placement process where the candidates work for an organization for 2 months. Here the students spent 2 months interning for an organization and they are paid stipend for the internship. Based on the performance, the students are also offered Pre-Placement Offers or PPOs.
B-School Final Placement Report
Final Placement process is conducted at the end of the course. The final placement process of the B-schools is generally held in the months of December to February. In the final placement process, the candidates are offered jobs from one or more companies in a particular sector or domain.

According to the B-School Placement Reports 2013, despite an economic slowdown, the placement process has not been hampered much. However, according to the B-School Survey report by Careers360, the placement salary offered this year has been lower compared to that of last year. The average salary package offered at the B-schools is around Rs. 12 lakh per annum. Consulting, Sales & Marketing, and Finance are the top recruiting domains. The placement process for the batch of 2012-14 has been a low-key affair at most of the institutes this year and the final placement process concluded later than usual barring few top B-schools, yet the average salary saw marginal rise in spite of having a higher batch size. Sales & Marketing still continues to dominate the recruiting sectors. Other top sectors include Finance, BFSI, Consulting and IT/ITeS.

The year 2016 saw a double-digit growth in the average stipend in IIMs and B-schools which completed the placement process for the batch of 2014-16. This comes as a result of the growing economy. Startups and E-Commerce companies continue to be the major chunk of the total recruiters hiring for various functions, be it IT, Sales & Marketing or Operations. FMCG, Consulting and BFSI are the top recruiting sectors. Top profiles included Sales& Marketing, followed by Finance and IT. Based on the performance in the Summer Internship, the companies offer PPO or Pre Placement Offer to the students.
