I have got 26 percentile in cat 2019 and as per xat percentile predicter, I may get 40-50 percentile in XAT 2020. NO OPTION TO GIVE ANOTHER ATTEMPT. please recommend colleges I can get under this. More preferably in DELHI-NCR. Thank You

Soumya Kanta Sarkar 11th Jan, 2020

Hi Anirudh,

I really feel bad for your situation and I am not going to give you false hopes. So by your CAT score you may find it difficult to get any calls from the good or average B-Schools. Same is the result with your XAT. However, there is nothing to lose hope. There are few options which you can avail as of now:

  1. Go for other exams like CMAT, MAT, MHCET, TANCET. These colleges will give you another chance of getting into a decent B-School. There are many people who do not go for CAT and XAT because of their difficulty level as well as the number of people attending those exams. MAT is conducted several times in a year. If you have missed one, you don’t have to worry as there will other chances and it goes on throughout the year. However, before applying you should keep a check on the month specific eligible institutes. NDIM is a good B-School located in Delhi and it accepts MAT ,CMAT,XAT,CAT scores. You can also apply for ATMA exam which will also be beneficial for you and it is also relatively easier compared to the other exams.
  2. Another thing that you can do is go for Management Quota as there are few seas that are reserved in this quota. The only downside is that you have to pay extra(few lakhs) to get yourself admitted under this quota. Rest everything will be same.

Now it’s your call which one to go for. Though there are several colleges which accept low scores but that will a total waste of money unless you are going solely to earn your MBA degree and not placements. If you want to get placed in a good company at the end of the 2 years, then you should one of the two options above.

I hope I have been able to solve your query . All the best!!!

Sir already dropped one year after graduation for preparing cat and now I scored really pathetic in cat(49 percentile), xat, snap and Nmat too. Im really confused now that what to do next, should I drop one more year or take admission in any of the average college ?

Sampriti Gupta Student Expert 10th Jan, 2020
With your CAT percentile you may not get any good colleges but there are many colleges which select candidates based on their performance in the GD/PI rounds and they don't require you to score much in CAT. You just have to be presentable and show yourself as employable. You can apply for NDIM New Delhi and JIMS Rohini. You can also go for the written exam of IBSAT. They are decent colleges and will provide you a decent job opportunity.

If you have already dropped for a year then it won't be wise enough to drop again because that would create a lot of problems during placements. Some companies like Vedanta, Tata Motors and many other reputed organizations require you to have a maximum academic gap of 1 year.

Do considering all these facts and without further ado you should apply for the above mentioned colleges.

i got 8.6 matks in xat 2020...what will be my percentile?

Sampriti Gupta Student Expert 10th Jan, 2020
With your score you will have a percentile ranging from 40- 50. With this you may not get any good colleges but you can certainly check out colleges accepting other management entrance exams like CAT or CMAT as they would give you a whole lot of colleges to choose from.

You can also check your expected percentile using the  following link

i scored around 13 marks in XAT , can i expect call from any good college ? my profile is good with 90% in both 10th and 12th with 20 months of work experience in LNT. please help

Soumya Kanta Sarkar 11th Jan, 2020

Hi Vidyansh,

Congratulations on having such a nice profile. It’s really great to see that you have maintained consistency over the years and there’s a clear reflection of that. The only thing that is not right here is the marks as it would not amount to a decent percentile in XAT. I will not give you any flowery situation and false hopes but its really difficult to get into any decent B-School with the percentile that you are going to secure. I am giving you the probable marks-percentile break up:

Marks

Percentile

28

89

30

90

32

93

35

95

40

97+

XLRI will consider you for their BM and HR program only if you score 93+ percentile in XAT and they will call you for further shortlisting process. Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar will require you to get 91+ for their BM program and 87+ for their HR program. XISS, Ranchi and XIME, Bangalore will require 70-75+ percentile for their GD/PI process.

What you can do write now is that, if you are hell bent on getting admitted into a Xavier Institution, then you can write XAT for another year. If you are sure to get into a decent B-school this year, then you may have to write other exams like MAT, CMAT, MHCET and ATMA. XIME, Bangalore and Kochi campus accepts MAT score so you can try that.

You would have to get yourself prepared for GD/PI processes too as you won’t be getting any time for preparation after the college gives you the call. Try reading newspapers and go through every other article on latest innovations, research, economy and sports.

No need to worry as there are a lot of good B-Schools, who, I am sure will be more than happy to take you into their course and with your perfect work-experience, companies won’t hesitate either.

I hope I have been able to solve your query. All the best!!!

If suppose my overall score is 23 in XAT, and cleared sectional cut off of RC,VA and DM but couldnt clear DI and Quant, In that case can i apply for colleges which accept XAT scores or colleges under XAT i.e (121 colleges) and what is the expected percentile i get.

Soumya Kanta Sarkar 12th Jan, 2020

Hi Mohd Abdullah,

The XAT answer key has been released and you can easily check your marks over there. I am posting the marks vs. percentile break up of XAT and you can guess your percentile. These are approximate assumptions and is done mainly by looking into the trends over the previous years. Mind you that these are not accurate and may vary though not significantly. Your percentile will largely depend on the number of test takers in the country and also the difficulty of the exam. Though XAT is highly favoured among the test takers and the B-Schools and the difficulty level remains almost the same every year, so you can safely assume your percentile from this:

Marks

Percentile

28

89

30

90

32

93

35

95

40

XLRI and XIMB will consider sectional cut offs as these are the flagship colleges that come under XAMI. Rest of the XAMI colleges will only consider your overall percentile.

Other good colleges that you can apply through XAT are:

  1. SPJAIN,Mumbai
  2. IMT,Ghaziabad
  3. TAPMI,Manipal
  4. GIM,Goa
  5. LIBA,Chennai
  6. IFMR,Chennai
  7. GREAT LAKES Institute of Management,Chennai
  8. KJ SOMAIYA, Mumbai
  9. FORE School of Management, Delhi
  10. BIMECH,Noida

Apart from that, you need to prepare yourself for the GD/PI process as you won’t be getting any time for preparation once these colleges starts calling the candidates for further shortlistings. Start reading newspapers and practise speaking in English in front of a mirror that will give you confidence if you find it difficult to speak fluently.

I hope I have answered to your query. All the best!!!

I have scored a overall score of 10 in xat what will be my percentile

Harshita Gupta 9th Jan, 2020
Hey Amit,

If you really mean 'overall score 10',then unfortunately, it doesn't help you much in admission. It will give you 60-70 percentile.
For admissions, you will need a score of 22-28 minimum and 85-90+ percentile. The marks of individual sections- VALR, DM, QA also matter.

There are 3 sections which you have to attempt in the examination and if you score 6-10 in each section individually, then your overall percentile will range from 90-95 percentile.
If you total the raw scores of all the 3 sections and get 28 (for example) then you have 88 percentile expected.

For more information regarding the cut-off of different institutes, please check the link below:

Hope this helps!

I want to get CAT2018 score and XAT2019 scorecard, is there any possibility?

SAKSHI KULSHRESHTHA 9th Jan, 2020

Rishabh, the scorecards of both CAT and XAT are valid for only one year. That means if you have given your CAT in 2018, you can take admission based on its score in the session 2019-21 only. Same goes for XAT. So no, you cannot get your 2018 CAT score or 2019 XAT score.

i have less than 45% in graduation i have given xat which colleges can i apply

rajaman9300 Student Expert 8th Jan, 2020

Hello Rishma

XAT mostly considers these 5 things with 5th being the most important of all(obviously with good XAT score).

ass x/ xii/ grad marks

work-ex

xat score

extra curriculars

pi and WAT.

But as you have mentioned that you have only 45% in graduation then it will be an uphill task for you to make it to the final list.
