I have secured 233 in NMAT 2020. I am aiming for NMIMS Mumbai campus. What score should I be aiming for? Also, is my current score enough?

theeanonymous 20th Jan, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Your NMAT score is really good so you have high chances of getting call from NMIMS, Mumbai. A score of 200-210 can be considered a safe score for top institutes. and percentile-wise, 90-94+ is the cutoff . Some universities consider the composite score and some give select based on percentile scores. As far as sectional cutoffs in NMIMS are concerned, you need a score of 70-75+ in all 3 sections. Do prepare very well for the interview and group discussion round as they are crucial for final selection .

I have scored 213 in NMAT this year, can I get a call from XIMB? I have 85+ in 10/12/B.Tech, with job experience of 38months in Telecom/IT sector. Can I expect call from XIMB?

theeanonymous 20th Jan, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

You have scored well in NMAT. Usually , a score of 200+ is considered safe for most reputed colleges. So given you NMAT score, you have a high chance of getting call from XIMB. In case , they are considering percentile scores, then an overall percentile of 87-90+ is needed to get a call. Your previous merits and work experience is good and will be considered along with the interview and GD scores to make to final selection. So if you perform well on PI and GD round, you will sure get admission in XIMB.

Ive got a score of 215 in NMAT but my Quantitative Ability Sectional score is 56. Will I be able to clear the cut-off for NMIMS, Mumbai?

theeanonymous 20th Jan, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Below are the minimum score you need section-wise:

Quantitative Skills--68-72

Logical Reasoning--67-72

Language Skills--62-68

And coming to NMIMS , they do considered sectional cutoffs for making the final selection along with your overall cutoff. They expected a score of 70-75+ in all sections.  Since , you have scored below 60 in your quant section , it is difficult to say for sure about your possibility, but if they are going by sectional cutoffs , then you might be on the disadvantageous side. However, your overall score is good ,so if they call based on that, you need to perform really well in other rounds like personal interview and group discussion to improve your chances.

However, it is safe to apply in few other good colleges too to be on the safer side.

Which would be the best college to target with a Score of 161 in Nmat ? Got a call from Alliance University Bangalore ! Hows Alliance compared to Christ or some other renound college in terms of Placement and Packages ? kindly also help me with a list of some good colleges to target @ this Score !

theeanonymous 20th Jan, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Choosing a college for MBA would largely depend on your personal and professional interests.Coming to your question ,Alliance University is good for MBA,the course content, structure and quality of faculty is good in this institution . Comparing it with Christ University , it may stand a level down but that is because Christ is an older institution and has got a very good reputation over the years, The placements might be a litter better in Christ , but otherwise , Alliance is equally good. Moreover, if you study well, update your skills and knowledge , you will easily grab a good opportunity irrespective of the college.. They train the students well, so you can expect a good quality education and they provide practical lessons in management, case-study method and grooming on personal development, business etiquette, presentation skills, workplace conduct, business awareness etc.The college offers decent placements. Many good companies like Tata Consultancy Services, CBRE, ITC, Mahindra, Nestle, OCBC Bank (Singapore), Asian Paints, Cadbury, HDFC, CRISIL, and Piaggio visits the campus for placements. The highest salary package offered in our course was 22 LPA.

Based on your score, other colleges apart from Alliance University you can apply for are:

IBS (ICFAI B-schools), Hyderabad & 9 other cities

BSE Institute Ltd, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad

Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida (Delhi NCR)

WOXSEN, Hyderabad

Amity University, Noida (Delhi NCR)

theeanonymous 20th Jan, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Based on your situation , it is not exactly predictable because it depends on what they chose to do. But there are chances you may get a call as you have applied for XIMB separately as well as has registered for the same in NMAT application. Regarding your NMAT option on the XIMB application, you may contact them once and address the situation and see whether it can be rectified.
