can general knowledge marks considered or not in mat exam

Akansha Sharma 3rd Dec, 2024

In the MAT exam, General Knowledge (GK) is a part of the test, but it does not directly contribute to your final score in the same way as the other sections (Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis, and Intelligence). However, a good score in GK can help you during the interview process, as some institutes consider it for shortlisting candidates. It is still important to prepare for this section, as it can give you an edge in some cases.

Is there any similarities between MAT and NMAT exams in syllabus ? or should i separately prepare for the exams ?

Rishitha 22nd Feb, 2024

MAT and NMAT are both entrance exams conducted for admission into management program in India. While there maybe some overlap in terms of the general aptitude & reasoning sections, it's important to note that they are conducted by different bodies and have different focuses.

MAT covers sections like language comprehension, Mathematical skills, data analysis and sufficiency, intelligence and critical reasoning, and India and Global environment.

NMAT on the other hand, focuses on language skills, Quantitative analysis and logical reasoning.

MAT is conducted in either paper based or computer based but, NMAT is only computer based.

MAT scores are accepted by wide range of management schools across India. While NMAT score are primarily used for admission into NMIMS, and some other institutions.

Given these differences, it's advisable to study separately for each exam.

I have score 467.50 in 2008 MAT. SCORE ANALYSIS

Akansha Sharma 3rd Dec, 2024

A MAT score of 467.50 in 2008 is considered an average score. While it may not be competitive enough for top-tier business schools, it could still help you secure admission to some mid-range or tier-2 management colleges. Your chances improve if you're applying to institutions with slightly lower cutoffs. The score could also make you eligible for some specialized courses or colleges that accept MAT scores for MBA, PGDM, or related programs. Research specific colleges' cutoffs to assess your options better.

I have taken MAT 2008 and completed MBA with score 467.50. Score analysis.

Akansha Sharma 20th Dec, 2024

A MAT score of 467.50 in 2008 may be considered average, as top MBA schools usually require higher scores (around 600 or more) for admission. However, your score's relevance depends on the specific institutions you're applying to, as some colleges may accept a broader range of scores. Since MAT scores are valid for one year, your 2008 score is likely outdated for most current applications. You may need to retake the exam for a more competitive score.

Im a B.A student with subjects of English and History. I want to get into MBA in HR. Will the general course help me? I will be answering the MAT entrance exam in May. So without the results can I apply in the universities?

Ishita 19th Jul, 2024

Hello Aspirant

MBA in HR has very high scope in present and even in the future. The average starting salary of an MBA graduate in HR ranges from 4 LPA to 10 LPA; if you're doing your MBA from top colleges like IIMs, it can go as high as 35 LPA. Top recruiters include HDFC, JP Morgan, ICICI, etc.

Yes, you can appear for MAT/XAT/CAT even when you are in the last year of your Bachelor's, regardless of your stream. But do keep in mind that top MBA colleges and universities expect their candidates to have a job experience of a minimum of 2 years. So, if you wish to get into a reputed MBA college, gain some experience and then apply.

The process of choosing your university/college come later, when the results of MAT have bee released. Then, you can go to the desired college's website , fill out their forms, and sit for their GD/PI.

Hope this helps.
