which one entrace exam is best for applying in mba collages , mat exam or cmat exam

ayanmukherjee045 22nd May, 2022

Dear aspirant,

Although if we compare to cat both these exams are easier than cmat and mat. Cmat is relatively easier to crack.

CMAT was introduced to reduce student's stress during the preparation of management entrance examination.

The national testing agency conducts the CMAT and ATMA conducts the MAT examination. CMAt is a higher level examination if you compare with mat as it gives to admission to top B - schools all over India. However mat score is accepted by 600+ colleges.

I attempted 75-80 questions in mat , and I think I can get 60correct answers out of 200, what would be my percentile

ginnisachdeva02_9364270 Student Expert 20th May, 2022

Hi Aspirant!

MAT exam has five sections:

  1. Mathematical Skills
  2. Intelligence & Critical Reasoning
  3. Data Analysis & Sufficiency
  4. Language Comprehension
  5. Indian and Global Environment (GK)

Each section has 40 questions and for every correct answer you get +1 mark and for every wrong answer 0.25 mark is duducted.

NOTE: GK section is not counted in the overall “Composite Score”. The composite score is the marks scored in the first four sections (GK is not a part of composite score). GK score is reported separately.

>> As you metioned that you attempted 75-80 questions, so I am assuming that this does not include questions from GK section. Thus I am assuming that you answered 75 Non-GK questions. Also, the score depends on accuracy rate as well (how many you attempted were right).

>> In first case, attempted: 75 questions, accuracy - 100%. So, the total marks will be 75 out of 160 (not including GK Part). A net score of 70 marks can take one to more than 95 percentile (overall), (as per the previous years marks vs percentile record).

>> In second case, let's assume you answered questions with 80% accuracy. It means that 60 were correct and remaining 15 were incorrect. Total marks = 60 + (15/4) = 63.75 marks, which will most probably make 85-90% overall (as per the records).

Note: It has been observed that a net score of more than 100 marks (out of 160 marks) will take one to more than 99.9 percentile.

>> So, let's wait for the actual result and do not consider the numbers above as the final result.

Thankyou!

im skipping maths and dI for mat as it is not my cup of tea plz guide me can i skip both section in mat

Sharon Rose Student Expert 4th May, 2022

Hello,

MAT Entrance Examination has 5 sections namely

  • Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
  • Data Analysis and Sufficiency
  • Language Comprehension
  • Indian and Global Environment
  • Mathematics

Each section has 40 questions. Some of the MAT participating institutes do not consider Indian and Global environment marks. There is no sectional cut off score in MAT but if you leave Mathematics and Data Analysis & Sufficiency you will lose some marks in the overall score and percentile which will effects your selection. To get selected for a decent college you need to score minimum 700-750 above in MAT. So we would suggest you to not skip any section in MAT examination. You may focus on Mathematics and Data Analysis & Sufficiency and practice them daily so that you can score a decent mark in MAT examination.

i have applied for MAT CBT test if i upgraded to IBT test, i should write both the test ? and which test marks will be considered?

SnekhaK SnekhaK 8th Jun, 2022

Hi aspirant,

If you upgrade to IBT,you need not write both. You should write IBT and consider that score.

If you have applied for both CBT and IBT,appear for both the exams and check in which you are securing high composite mark and percentile. You can consider that score while applying for college and its completely your choice while uploading the documents in the application form.

And you have to apply for each college separately after MAT exam.

All the best!
