S. Saha Student Expert 14th Jul, 2020
National Testing Agency has extended the last date to fill the application form for DU JAT till July 18, 2020. After that, the authority will again open the portal for updating class 12 marks. But has not yet announced when to conduct DU JAT 2020. Any dates for releasing the admit cards has not yet disclosed. Once the registration is process is over, the authority may announce furthur dates. As covid cases are increasing at an alarming rate in India, it's difficult to conduct DU Jat anytime before July. how to prepare general english for du jat 2020

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 8th Jul, 2020

You will be checked on your fundamentals of English like your knowledge of English Grammar, Comprehension, etc. The topics you might have to study would be Grammar and Usage, Error Findind, Synonyms and Antonyms Word Pairing, Comprehension, Vocabulary, One word substitutions and Fill ups. Read articles from time to time. Follow newspapers, magazines, and watch the news channels and browse the internet to keep yourself updated. You will need a lot of reading to help you in the comprehension section. You will need speed to help you in this section and you can achieve that only by thorough practise and reading. Take time to understand the question because most answers are interlinked. These books should help you:

  • Word Power Made Easy (by Norman Lewis)
This is the go-to book to improve your vocabulary. It is not a book to be read but a book to work with daily to enrich your vocabulary.

High School Grammar and Composition( by Wren and Martin)
It is a very good book for people who want to improve their grammar skills. It helps to understand and conceptualise different aspects of grammar and it is a must have book for anyone with poor grasp on verbal ability or who wants to make up with the basics of English.

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 2nd Jul, 2020

Hello

No, DU Jat is not applicable to science courses i e BSc courses.

Admission in DU for BSC courses is  on the basis of marks obtained by you in class 12th board examination and not through DU JAT

Through DU jat  only following courses are offered :-

*BMS,

* BBA (FIA) and

* B.A (Hns.) in Business Economics

So, you don't need to appear for DU Jat if you want to get into BSc or Science courses

is it mandatory to add mathematics in top 4 subjects for du jat this year particularly?

Sk Student Expert 27th Jun, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

We hope you have applied online your application as it ends on 04/07/2020. Please read the admission bulletin which gives you entire details on, please read from page 5 http://du.ac.in/du/uploads/COVID-19/24062020_UG.pdf

From the above pdf file:

The detailed course specific criteria are in sections 2.2 – 2.9:

1. All academic subjects may be treated as “elective.” The subjects eligible for computation (subject to course-specific criteria) are listed above in List A and List B.

2. The University may define any other relevant subjects as academic/elective for a particular course. 3. Merit is calculated through course-specific combinations of marks obtained in the qualifying examination in the “Best Four” subjects for admission to courses through the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Mathematical Sciences, Music, Social Sciences, Applied Social Sciences & Humanities, and course-specific combinations of “Three Subjects” for admission to courses under the faculties of Sciences and Applied Sciences.

Mathematics as an elective will depend on the subject you want to study e.g. Literature – then you don’t need to show the best 4.

Good Luck
