Why do people recommend to pursue B.com and then prepare for CAT to get into the top IIMs? I mean minimum age criteria for IIMs is 25 years! Ill be done with my B.com at 21. what am I expected to do in those 4 years with a bachelors degree?

Basically there is not any as such age limit to get into IIM for majority of courses, but there is age limit criteria for PGP and EPGP course, generally people suggest you to go for CAT exam after BCom because bachelor degree is mandatory if you are pursuing your

You profile is very good except the graduation marks.
Being an General Engineering Male
You would need to score at least 99.5+ for targeting old IIMs.
For new IIMs you should target 96+
For baby IIMs you should target 94+

If by Mathematics section, you mean Quantitative Ability, it is tad tough. But they say that the only way to master Mathematics is to practise Mathematics. For CAT and in general for other management exams too like XAT, CMAT, etc you can solve quantitative aptitude by Arun sharma. The book is well written such that theory and numerical both are in adequate proportion. Though pearson is also good and one can follow it too.
