what should i choose IPMAT after 12th or CAT after graduation?

Khushi 24th Dec, 2019

CAT is tougher than IPM. The ratio of students selected in IPM is 1:100 whereas in CAT it is more than 1:170 I think and the level of exam and interview is also tougher in CAT as compared to IPM.

If you are ready to face difficulty level and want a better rewarding career than you should wait for you graduation to be done and then take CAT.

If you think you will not be able to compete with the tough competition in CAT , then IPMAT is a easier yet a good option for you.

Hope this helps

Aryan, there is EWS reservation for admission to IIM Indore for its 5 year Integrated Management Course. If you look at its brochure in Page no# 4 at the link, file:///C:/Users/dell/Downloads/IPM-Domestic_Applicants.pdf (file:///C%3A/Users/dell/Downloads/IPM-Domestic_Applicants.pdf) , it says that the available reservations are NC-OBC,SC,ST and EWS. Any compartment student or private candidates of 12th class can give the entrance exam of IPMAT 2020 ? please let me know .

Sheikh Almas Qureshi 16th Dec, 2019

Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore)  . It is a national level test that  is a gateway for admission to the five- year Integrated Program in Management offered at IIM Indore.

So if you have compartment in one subject or you are giving your 12th private it doesn`t matter actually. According to eligibility criteria firstly you have be  to passed in your 12th examination (all subject). Or in case of compartment firstly you have to clear or pass your compartment exam. Then only you can go for it.

So according to eligibility criteria of IPMAT by IIM indore :-

  • The candidate should have scored a minimum of 60% in class 10 th /SSC and class 12 th / HSC or equivalent examination in case of General and NC-OBC category.

  • The candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in 2018, 2019 or in 2020
  • Also, the candidate should be of maximum 20 years of age as on July 31, 2020

  • The candidate should have scored a minimum of 55% in class 10 th /SSC and class 12 th / HSC or equivalent examination in case of SC, ST and PWD (DA) category

  • The candidate should not be more than 20 years of age as on July 31, 2020 (General and NC/OBC category )

  • The candidate should be exceed 22 years of age as on July 31, 2020 (SC, ST and PWD/DA category )

the application filling dates are from February 17,2020 to March 30,2020 And for further updates you can visit to www.iimidr.ac.in the website of IPMAT for updates.

And the fee is Rs 3, 450/-  for general category/NC-OBC and Rs 1,770  for reserved category candidates. But you must note that the fee can be paid only in online mode. you can choose to pay the fee by any of the following:

  • Credit/Debit Card
  • NetBanking

IPMAT 2020 will be held in computer-based test mode (50 total weightage) followed by Written Ability Test (WAT)(15 total weightage) and Personal Interview (PI)(35 total weightage). The final selection of candidates will be based on the total Composite Scores (CS) of all three modes.

So dear do not get confused and stressed firstly passed and clear your 12th with good marks or percentage along with that also be prepare for the IPMAT exam as you want to join it.

But without clearing your 12th you can not go for any of Undergraduate (ug) or post graduate (PG) or any integrated course.

hope this will help you,

good luck.

will be giving boards in March 2020( commerce-maths). got 2 plans in mind: 1.prepare for CA CPT (june 2020) wait for merit based du selection & persue CA side by side b.com(with regular/open) & try CAT after UG. 2. take a crash course (IPMAT, DUJAT) & if not get selected then give CA CPT (Nov 2020)

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 25th Jan, 2020
Hello,

Your plans are great and its really appreciable that you are ready so early.
Now if we talk about your 1st plan then here the most important thing is that you will have to get good marks in your boards to get selected in a good college in DU.
You said you want to do CA and prepare for CAT after graduation. This is where you will get stuck.See,CA itself is very time consuming and one of the toughest exams in india and you need special preparation for it.And on the other hand you said you want to prepare for CAT too which is also a tough exam.My opinion for you is that you should choose any one. If you are interested in management then simply take admission in B.Com and start preparing for CAT and if you are interested in Accounting then prepare only for CA after taking admission in B.Com.

Your 2nd option is good because you are keeping a backup with you so if you will fail in the entrance of DU JAT then you can go for CA but make sure you take admission in B.Com.

You will have to choose one between CA and CAT.
You can do MBA after CA so i would say if you are really interested in management then go for CAT.
If you will aim for both at the same time then you might end up messing both.

I hope this helps.
