Should I prepare for the NMAT or CMAT?

roshni 10th Dec, 2021

Hello,

Hope you are doing well!

The difficulty level of the sections of NMAT 2019 was easy to moderate, whereas, for the sections of CMAT 2019, they were mostly moderate to difficult.

And CMAT has negative marking, and NMAT doesn't have.

NMAT and CMAT are some of the exams that help aspirants get into some of the best B-Schools in the country. Coming to the level of exams, I feel these are a notch easier than CAT, XAT and other exams if you have practiced well. Some of the top colleges that accept NMAT scores are as follows :

  • NMIMS University
  • SPJIMR Mumbai
  • Xavier University Bhubaneswar
  • TAPMI Manipal, Jaipur
  • IBS Hyderabad: ICFAI Business School
  • VIT University Vellore, Chennai
  • SOIL - School of Inspired Leadership, Gurgaon
  • SDA Bocconi Asia Center, Mumbai
  • ITM Navi Mumbai: ITM Group of Institutions
  • Mody University School of Business, Jaipur
  • ICFAI IBS Dehradun, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Gurgaon Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune
  • Jindal Global Business school – Sonepat, Delhi/NCR
  • HBS, Hyderabad.

Since NMAT gets over by December, and you are not able to perform well in the exam you can always give your best performance in CMAT and get a good score.

The exam pattern is slightly different for both the exams, like the CMAT has a general awareness section and negative marking, whereas NMAT has no negative marking, but scaling happens in its case. Some of the colleges accepting CMAT scores include the following :

  • JBIMS MumbaiK J Somaiya SIMSR Mumbai
  • Prin. L. N. Welingkar WE School Mumbai
  • SIMSREE MumbaiSIESCOMS Navi Mumbai
  • Chetna CIMRITM Group of Institutions
  • SDA Bocconi Mumbai
  • IES Management IEC MCRC Mumbai
  • DSIMS Mumbai
  • Vivekanand Education VESIM Mumbai
  • Guru Nanak GNMIMS Mumbai
  • Bharati Vidyapeeth`s BVIMSR Mumbai

All the best!

Hope it will help!

Thank you!
