I did not self attest my obc certificate in cat application. what should I do?

mkahampa 31st Aug, 2022
Dear Aspirant,

Hope you are doing fine! Below are the categories who get benefits of reservation in CAT -

  • As per the Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the non - creamy layer (NC - OBC).

To avail the reservation benefits one must upload the catagory certificate at the time of CAT registration. In case of other mba colleges you might get chance to apply separately as many mba colleges take separate applications for admission after cat exam. But in case of IIMs candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their application while registration for cat, during the selection process they need to produce the documents for verification. But in your case if you have not attached catagory certificate at the time of CAT registration you will be shortlisted as per general cutoff. Below I have provided you previous year cutoff for different IIMs.

  • IIM Ahmedabad - 85 percentile
  • IIM Bangalore - 85 percentile
  • IIM Calcutta - 85 percentile
  • IIM Lucknow - 90 percentile
  • IIM Indore - 90 percentile
  • IIM Kozhikode - 85 percentile
  • IIM Amritsar - 85 percentile
  • IIM Nagpur - 85 percentile
  • IIM Sambalpur - 93 percentile
  • IIM Trichy - 93 percentile
  • IIM Raipur - 93 percentile
  • IIM Ranchi - 93 percentile
  • IIM Kashipur - 94 percentile
  • IIM Vizag - 80 percentile
  • IIM Udaipur - 93 percentile
  • IIM Bodhgaya - 93 percentile
  • IIM Shillong - 75 percentile
  • IIM Sirmaur - 93 percentile
  • IIM Rohtak - 95 percentile

Im in degree 3yr studying 5sem so, can I write for cat 2022

thakurvishesh1 28th Aug, 2022

Unfortunately not. Common Admission Test or CAT is an exam which is meant for those applicants who have either finished their studies and now have a degree in their hands or those who are in the final year of their studies and will graduate before the session of the Indian Institute of Management or IIMs starts. Since you are in 3rd year, thus you won't be eligible to appear for CAT and can only appear for the exam next year or in 2023.

Hope I have answered your question. All the best!

hi i am preparing for cat and got 87.8 percentile in mock test series so what does it mean?

Sakshi Sharma 24th Aug, 2022

Hello aspirant !!

I am hoping that you are absolutely fine. See , if you got 87.8 percentile in your CAT mock then it means you have to work more hard. Atleast you should score more than 95+ in your mock test so that you can crack the CAT exam with good marks. To score more you have to attempt only those questions in which you are confident. Try to avoid those questions in which you are not sure as one mark will be deducted for the wrong answer.

Go through the given link for the preparation tips so that you can enhance your preparation for the exam. I would like to tell you that be consistent in your preparation as it is not an easy exam , you have to be determined for that.
