RANKING of B-Schools is a formidable venture. With over 2000 schools of different hues forming the universe, identifying a manageable set of institutions to evaluate is in itself a tough task. We tabulated the past rankings obtained by B-Schools in leading magazines. We attempted to generate a manageable cluster by reducing the diversity that these magazines represent by using a novel methodology. The result is a table of tables of the top 10% of B-Schools in the country. Here’s how the schools stack up alphabetically within the clusters.
To arrive at a CLUSTER-BASED grouping of leading Business Schools in India, in addition to the Careers360 ranking we began by tabulating the B-School ranking of four magazines namely Business India (BI), Business Today (BT), Business World (BW) and Outlook (OL) for the period 2005 to 2010. While BT and OL 2009 rankings are perception-based; BI, BW and OL (2005-10) rank based on objective parameters. A total of 190 schools constituted the universe.
From this set, we short-listed those who appeared at least thrice in one or multiple rankings, including Careers360. We eliminated institutions that were not ranked at all by any objective criterion (a threshold of A and above was maintained in the case of BI ranking). By this methodology, we short-listed 173 B-Schools. Another 17 schools, which appeared in the universe, but did meet the criterion partially, were also included since we felt these institutions do have the potential to be in the Top-100 list. These institutions were then classified based on the following approximation into eight major groupings.

Business India | 1 – 15 | 16 – 50 | 51 – 75 | 76 – 125 |
