Shiv Charan: At present I am pursuing PGDM (post-graduation diploma in management) from I BUSINESS INSTITUTE, Greater Noida and I am first year student.

Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Shiv Charan: Like any new journey, the initial months at IBI came with their own set of challenges and responsibility and the schedule required some adjustments. However, I saw these challenges as opportunities for growth. The supportive faculty, mentorship programs, and engaging curriculum helped me overcome these initial hurdles. This experience taught me resilience and adaptability, which I believe are essential qualities for success in any field.

Careers360: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Shiv Charan: The institute offers a wide range of activities that go beyond academics to ensure holistic development. There are various clubs and committees catering to different interests, such as cultural, sport, literary and entrepreneurship clubs. I actively took part in Guru Abhinandan which is celebrated at the Teacher’s Day and I was a coordinator at that event whose role was to manage the event and look after the corporate guests. Apart from this I was an overall coordinator in the Khelfiesta which is the annual sports fest of our college. Our college also celebrates every year the JOY OF GIVING day and I was also a part of that event. Currently I am a coordinator in the operation management Club committee.

Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Shiv Charan: I wake up at 6:30 am in the morning, after doing my things I go to gym for an hour; after returning back home I take a bath, prepare my meals and head towards my institute. Our class starts from 9:30 am to 4:45 pm. In this period of time, we have 4 lectures and a 15 mins of break after each lecture and a 45 mins of break for lunch. Our classes don’t let us feel sleepy as they are very much interesting filled full of practical knowledge. After our classes gets over, I have to do my internship which is of 2.5 hours and after that I go back to my home, take some rest and prepare meals and do self-study to enhance my growth in my area of interest. After that I am active on LinkedIn for half-hour until I go to sleep.

Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Shiv Charan: The faculty-student ratio at the institute ensures personalized attention and effective mentoring for every student. This balance allows teachers to connect with students, understand their needs, and provide tailored guidance. From my understanding, the teacher-student relationship here is built on mutual respect and collaboration. Faculty members are approachable and supportive, always encouraging students to share ideas, ask questions, and strive for excellence. The environment fosters learning and growth, both academically and personally.

We have state-of-the-art classrooms, a well-stocked library, computer labs, and seminar halls for academic pursuits. For recreation and overall well-being, there are sports facilities, cafeteria, and spaces for cultural events. The hostel accommodations are comfortable, with amenities that ensure a conducive living and learning environment. What I find most unique and differentiating is the collaborative and inclusive culture fostered on campus. The emphasis on practical learning, industry exposure, and peer-to-peer interaction creates a vibrant environment that prepares us holistically for the corporate world. The sense of community and support here truly sets it apart.

Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?

Shiv Charan: The hostels are designed to offer a comfortable and conductive living environment for students. They are equipped with essential amenities, ensuring convenience and a sense of home away from home. Cleanliness is given top priority, with regular maintenance and hygienic practices in place. Common areas, rooms, and washrooms are well-maintained to create a healthy and pleasant atmosphere. The overall hostel experience has been positive, as it allows students to focus on their studies and extracurricular activities without any concerns about their living arrangements.

Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Shiv Charan: The campus ensures that students have access to requisite medical facilities when needed. There is a medical room on-site with basic first-aid and health support. In case of emergencies, the institute has tie-ups with nearby hospitals to provide prompt medical attention. The staff is well-trained to handle such situations efficiently, ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times. This proactive approach gives students and their families a sense of assurance and care.

Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Shiv Charan: Balancing everything can definitely be a challenge, but I’ve learned how to stay on top of it. I usually start by planning out my tasks and setting priorities, so I know what needs immediate attention and what can wait. Breaking big projects into smaller, manageable steps really helps—it makes everything feel less overwhelming.

I also make sure to give myself time to recharge with activities I enjoy, like participating in club events or just relaxing with friends. It’s all about keeping a healthy rhythm between studies, deadlines, and taking care of myself. Staying organized and flexible helps me stay focused and enjoy everything the institute offers.

Careers360: Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or student point of view?

Shiv Charan: Our campus has a variety of clubs and societies that cater to different interests, like cultural activities, sports, entrepreneurship, literature, and more. These groups are an amazing way to meet people who share your passions and to step outside the routine of academics. They often host events, workshops, and competitions that not only make campus life fun but also help students develop skills like teamwork and leadership.

From my perspective, these clubs are really significant. They’re not just about extracurricular activities—they offer a chance to learn, grow, and create memories. Being a part of these communities helps students explore their interests and prepares them for challenges beyond the classroom. Plus, it’s a great way to stay connected and balance work with a little fun.

Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?

Shiv Charan: Our institute publishes an in-house magazine which serves as a platform to capture and share all the exciting events, workshops, achievements, and initiatives on campus. It also includes insightful articles, creative contributions, and highlights of student and faculty accomplishments. It’s a great way to stay connected and celebrate our community’s growth.

Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Shiv Charan: On campus, some of the best hangout spots are the cafeteria and common areas, where students can relax, grab a bite, and catch up with friends. There’s always a lively, welcoming vibe, which makes these places perfect for unwinding after classes or even brainstorming group projects.

Outside the institute, Greater Noida has some really cool places to explore. Knowledge Park is quite popular among students—it’s full of budget-friendly eateries and chill spots. The Grand Venice Mall is another favourite, offering shopping, entertainment, and some amazing photo-worthy spots. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or enjoying a weekend outing, there are plenty of options to suit every mood.

Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time at the campus?

Shiv Charan: When I have free time on campus, I like to keep things balanced between relaxing and staying active. Sometimes, it’s as simple as grabbing coffee with friends at the cafeteria, catching up on a good book, playing indoor games or volleyball or just unwinding in the common areas. I also love being part of club activities or campus events—they’re a fun way to spend time while learning something new or meeting new people.

Careers360: Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?

Shiv Charan: Yes, our institute does have a presence on platforms like Facebook where students and the institute share updates, events, and achievements. It’s a great space for students to express their ideas, share fun moments, or stay informed about what’s happening on campus. There’s also a blog where students and faculty write about their experiences, campus life, and various events. These platforms create a sense of community and let everyone engage and celebrate the life we share here. They really help to keep the campus spirit alive and thriving.

Careers360: What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?

Shiv Charan: A variety of companies visit the campus for recruitment, ranging from renowned multinational corporations to growing startups. Some of the popular names include WIPRO, FLIPKART, DALMIA, and DS GROUP, among others. They offer roles in areas like marketing, finance, human resources, business analytics, and operations.

Placement here is really strong, with a large percentage of students securing jobs every year. The institute also hosts over 500 recruiters annually, ensuring diverse opportunities for everyone. The process itself is pretty well-organized—it typically involves pre-placement talks to understand the roles and expectations, followed by rounds like aptitude tests, group discussions, and personal interviews. The placement cell is very proactive, offering training sessions and workshops to prepare students for the process.
