Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Answer: Initially Delhi was completely new to us. The city made us uncomfortable as the people, places, and food preferences are quite different. However, the mentors and faculty at JIMS helped us and made this transition smooth. We now feel that shifting to Delhi was a cakewalk. We have become an expert at traveling in Delhi metro and also have a comfortable lodging to stay for the 2 years of the PGDM programme at the institute’s hostel.

Careers360: What activities or extracurricular activities are available at the institute? Are there any clubs etc ? Are you a part of any club?

Answer: JIMS Rohini offers an array of extra-curricular activities ranging from debate competitions, dance and music, sports, drama, as well as in-house academic and cultural clubs. Events are planned and organized in a manner that they groom the personality of the students. We are keen participants in the Sports and Cultural club and are involved in organizing several activities.

Careers360: What is your routine on a typical day at your institute – from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Generally classes at the institute commence from 9:30 AM so we wake up at 7 AM to make sure to reach the institute 10 minutes early. The lectures are coupled with some extracurricular activities on a weekly basis. Our lunch begins between 1 PM to 1:45 PM or depending upon the stretch of the lecture being delivered by the faculty. After the classes get over by 5 PM, we straightaway head to the hostel. We take our evening tea with some snacks to freshen up, go to the park to take a stroll in the lap of nature and rewind our mind to study again. Before dinner we try to complete my assignments and after dinner we revise my classroom notes for the next day. We generally go to bed by 12:30 AM.

Careers360: Tell us about your understanding of the teacher-student relationship at JIMS.

Answer: We have a good understanding and interactive relationship with our faculty. They are not just teachers but also our guide.

Careers360: What facilities do you have on campus? What do you feel is unique and differentiating there?

Answer: We have various facilities available at the campus e.g. An excellent canteen, Nescafe Hotspot, and the library, amongst others. What we love is the computer lab from where we could get our coloured printouts. These printouts are saviors for us whenever we make projects or sometimes late at night when we realize that we have forgotten to get printouts of coloured pictures or something else required to complete the project. The most unique and differentiating facility that we have at JIMS is the fact that there is a mentor allotted to each student. They are not only teaching us but they are also mentoring us for everything including internship projects. So we always have a guide to whom we can reach out and share our problems.

Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels? What about the cleanliness factor ?

Answer: Despite the fact that accommodation in Delhi tends to be expensive. We are thrilled by the spacious rooms provided in our Hostels. Cleanliness is above average, meals are provided on time and the Wardens are very cooperative.

Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Especially if needed in an emergency?

Answer: By the grace of god, we never had any medical problems and therefore, have not experienced the medical facilities in the hostel. We have never seen anything going out of control or heard of any medical problem that could not be handled. So yeah we suppose it is good.

Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Answer: Managing all this is quite hectic. However, because we are interested in the studies as well as our projects, we find ways to manage. In fact it was the first time that we had back-to-back exams for 10 days with only three days leave to prepare for it. Yet we were able to manage it with dedicated efforts.

Answer: Clubs and societies are very very important to develop your personality and to increase your network. For us it is a good means to connect with the corporate world. We are able to get good insights from the seminars and webinars and everything that we plan out and organize for the students. So yeah it is great learning to develop the professional capabilities and to groom us for the corporate world.

Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal that can tell us about the activities at the institute?

Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Answer: The most popular hangout might be the nearest mall - Unity One-because it is very close and the only distance that we could cover during a break and explore. McDonald’s and Burger King were the most popular hangouts though Gupta Ji the Samosa seller near our college is also very popular.

Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time at the campus?

Answer: Most of our time at the campus is spent with college faculty, mentor or dean. Whenever possible we prefer to go up to them and learn new things or discuss any problems or anything that we may be facing. We try to utilize our time whenever we can.
