Q. Tell us something about yourself, such as where you're from.

Ans. My name is Aarushi Verma, and I am from Chandigarh. I completed my BBA at Panjab University.

Q. Which course at IBA Bangalore are you currently enrolled in, and what year are you in?

Ans. I am currently in my second year of a PGDM in HR and Marketing at Indus Business Academy.

Q. Did you face any difficulties in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Ans. I didn’t face any difficulties as I could easily adjust to new places, and the environment in IBA Bangalore was very friendly and warm. I just missed being home.

Q. What activities are offered in IBA, Bangalore? Are there any clubs for various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Ans. There are various activities like fests, conferences, guest lectures, workshops, etc., that keep us busy throughout the day. Yes, there are various clubs for different specialisations. Such as Spandan - HR Club, Barcodes - Retail Club, Navigators - Finance, Hunterz - Marketing, and many more. IBA Bangalore also has committees responsible for different verticals like the Newsletter Committee, YMCC, i3, Hope Committee, Mess Committee, and Gyanodaya Committee. I am a part of the HR club - Spandan and I am also a member of the Newsletter Committee, where I serve as the fest coordinator.

Q. Describe a typical day at IBA Bangalore– what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Ans. I start my day by having breakfast at 8:30 am, followed by the 1st class from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm. Then, we have lunch and take some rest before the next class, which starts at 2 pm and goes till 5:15 pm. After that, we get evening snacks at the mess. Then after that, it is students’ time, and we gather in the 3D Block (a common room for boys & girls) to complete assignments/presentations. Later, we have our dinner at 8:30 pm and then I sit with my friends near the grocery (Grocery is the favourite spot for all students, where you can see many students sitting with a bottle of coke/juices and sharing fun conversations).

Then we attend a news reading session from 10 pm to 10:30 pm, which helps us improve our communication skills and overcome stage fear. That's how I spend a typical day at IBA.

If there are any upcoming events, then we all stay in CR Block and complete our work for the same. The most amazing part is before Archish, the National level management fest when all students can be seen working, decorating, and practising for various planned events.

Q. Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Ans. The ratio would be around 15-20 students per faculty member. We are each allotted a mentor who helps us in all aspects. The faculty at IBA is very experienced, and there is a cordial relationship with students. They are very supportive.

Q. What facilities do you have on campus? What do you like here the most, which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Ans. We have a lush green campus with separate hostels for boys and girls, laundry services, a gym, volleyball and basketball grounds, a dedicated table tennis room, a designated area for carom board, and a badminton court. Facilities like a 3D centre for discussions, a student activity and training centre, library with internet reference facilities and an audio-visual centre, wifi, campus doctor, open-air amphitheatre, mess and many more make student life comfortable. The campus environment, coupled with these facilities, truly makes it unique.

Q. How comfortable are your hostels, and how about the cleanliness factor?

Ans. The hostels are comfortable and clean. They are maintained well, and there are helping maids who clean them every day.

Q. What about medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Ans. Yes, in case of an emergency, there is a hospital nearby where immediate attention is provided.

Q. How do you balance your studies, projects, exams, and other activities?

Ans. This is what I learned in IBA Bangalore. I have to manage my time effectively. I usually do my activities in the evening and assignments mostly at night. Being attentive in class prepares me for exams in advance.

Q. Tell us about the clubs and societies on campus and how significant they are from your point of view.

Ans. There are 6 committees and 8 clubs on campus. The committees include the Newsletter Committee, YMCC, Hope Committee, i3, Gyanodaya, and Mess Committee. The clubs comprise Spandan, Navigators, Barcodes, Hunterz, Infinit, Cosmos, OM, and Dolphins.

These committees and clubs play a major role in shaping students for the corporate world. Their responsibilities involve handling stress, managing time effectively, organising events, and much more. Being a part of these groups has provided me with valuable exposure and learning, preparing me for the challenges ahead.

Q. Is there an in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?

Ans. Yes, it's called "UDGHOSH". It covers all the events, guest lectures, activities, and interviews. It is published quarterly.

Q. What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Ans. For me, the popular hangout spot would be the grocery area. As for nearby places, the most visited ones include Veg Gate, Café Coffee Day, Polar Bear, and Tea Day.

Q. How do you spend your leisure time on campus?

Ans. My leisure time is generally spent with my friends, either in one of our hostel rooms, stairs, or outside the grocery store chit-chatting and sharing all fun conversations. At times, I also spend some time reading novels.

Q. Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where students can express their views?

Ans. Yes, IBA has its own websites and webpages, along with Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages where students express their viewpoints in various ways.

Q. What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?

Ans. There are companies coming for varied roles and responsibilities from various organisations across the industry, like retail, finance, marketing, operations, analytics, and human resources. Every year approximately 96-98% of students secure IBA Bangalore placements. The recruitment process varies from company to company and is often conducted on a campus basis.
