IBA Campus Life- “Being Responsible is what you learn at IBA, Bangalore” says PGDM student Mohd.Tabish
IBA Campus Life - Nowadays, due to an increase in the number of colleges providing quality education it has become difficult for candidates to make a legitimate choice. At present more than 2000 B-School exist in India that provide undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Candidates take admission in B-Schools with a lot of assumptions like how the campus will be, faculty members, will there be extra-curricular activities apart from regular curriculum, hostel, medical facilities in case of emergency etc., So to answer and clear doubts, Dawar Mohd. Tabish, a PGDM student from Indus Business Academy shares his college experience with Careers360. Read the complete article of IBA Campus Life to have a better understanding.
Careers360- Tell us something about yourself such as from which place are you from?
Mohd Tabish- My name is Dawar Mohd Tabish, I have an undergraduate degree in Engineering and currently I am pursuing PGDM i.e. Post Graduate Diploma in Management in Marketing & Operations from Indus Business Academy, Bangalore.
I am from ‘The Brass City of India’ i.e. Moradabad located in Uttar Pradesh.
Careers360- Presently which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?
Mohd Tabish- I am currently a first year student, pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Marketing & Operations) from Indus Business Academy, Bangalore.
Careers360- Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?
Mohd Tabish- Actually no, personally, I enjoyed the curriculum from the initial days itself. Be it academic, sports, fests, or the events, the motive of coming here and pursuing PGDM, seemed justified with the kind of opportunities I got from the environment here. Indus Business Academy, Bangalore allowed me to come out of my comfort zone and participate, and experience different scenarios while leading or being led, and above all, getting to know the different ways in which those situations can be handled.
Careers360- What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc. for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?
Mohd Tabish- The best thing I found about being here in Indus Business Academy, Bangalore, is the kind of responsibilities which one gets in the tenure of two years. Everything is or has to be managed by the students only, which again gives a lot of experience and learning. For that there are different clubs and committees. Where each club represents the specializations and fields such as, Club ‘Spandan’ for HR, Club ‘Barcodes’ for Retail, Club ‘Hunters’ for Marketing, etc., and different committees such as YMCC, I3, etc. have responsibilities regarding placements, celebrations, and also with the CSR point of view.
I am a part of Spandan Club and Barcodes Club, and have also applied for YMCC, I3 and HOPE committee.
Careers360- Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?
Mohd Tabish- From waking up early in morning till going to bed, there are a lot of experiences and performances, and that too on a daily basis. We get the opportunities on a daily basis to work hard, be better and to move toward a brighter future.
After having breakfast (8am to 9am), we head towards the classroom for regular academic lectures. The lecture starts at 9:30 am sharp, with absolutely no affordable delay in time. A 15 minutes break is provided after the first session of 90 minutes, leading to another 90 minutes session before lunch (12:45pm to 2pm).
Right after lunch, we have another class of 90 minutes, followed by a break of 15 minutes and again a 90 minutes session, which ends at 5:15 pm, daily. Then right away, we move towards ‘Santripti’, the mess, where refreshment tea and snacks are provided (5:15 pm to 6 pm).
But life at IBA starts after that.
From the sessions conducted by clubs and committees which have quizzes, doubt-clearing sessions, debates, and preparations for the interviews, cultural practices etc. to sports, in parallel to the academic assignments which are to be completed on time, all these have to be done after 6pm, and that has to be managed accordingly.
From 8 pm to 9 pm we take dinner, and right at 9 pm the attendance starts and after which we are not allowed to go outside Indus Business Academy, Bangalore campus, but have permission to do our assignments and other jobs in the campus itself, and be at our respective Hostels by 11:30 pm sharp. Then at night candidates are allowed to complete their pending tasks and go to bed accordingly.
Careers360- Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.
Mohd Tabish- For the academics at Indus Business Academy, Bangalore, the batch is divided into three sections (A, B and C), each having not more than 60 students.
But, if we talk about the teacher-student relationship, the batch is further divided into groups of 12 to 15, which is then assigned to a particular faculty as a mentor for the two years.
I feel this is an amazing way in order to improve the abilities and thinking process of the students towards a better future, as by this, one gets enough courage and opportunities to open up in front of someone who is experienced and can give a justified direction to the student.
Careers360- What all facilities do you have in the campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?
Mohd Tabish- The Institute has an intranet Wi-Fi system which helps in maintaining a share folder for a better use of the technology and an ease of sharing knowledge.
Here at Indus Business Academy, Bangalore, apart from a library, we have a 3-D Centre, where we can do our Discussions, Dialogs, Discourse.
We also get the facility of sports and GYM, and can even have our personal two-wheelers in Indus Business Academy, Bangalore campus.
Moreover, a personal laptop is provided by the Institute to each student for academic purposes.
Careers360- How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
Mohd Tabish- The cleanliness of the common corridors and the washrooms is good, but the condition of the room depends on the student itself.
There is a water filter on each floor, which provides hot, cold and normal water.
The hot water for bathing is available from 7am to 9am.
There is a complaint register too, for any problem regarding the rooms, and the response for that is really good.
Careers360- What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?
Mohd Tabish- There is a medical room at Indus Business Academy, Bangalore, which is attended by a visiting doctor. Moreover, in an emergency, the Institute provides the required aids and a vehicle with a driver to reach the hospital as soon as possible.
Careers360- How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?
Mohd Tabish- Well, calling that an art will not be even a bit wrong, but the curriculum of Indus Business Academy, Bangalore helps to enhance the managing abilities, and in all terms justifies the PGDM and making us learn management in correct sense.
Careers360- Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students point of view?
Mohd Tabish- As mentioned earlier, the clubs represent different specializations and fields, and conduct sessions in order to fill the gap of understanding on important topics and needed skills. Indus Business Academy, Bangalore clubs do it in a very interesting and interactive way, through quizzes, role plays, etc.
Each club in Indus Business Academy, Bangalore is supervised by a respective faculty member and hence reduces the possibilities of something unproductive.
As a student, we find it interesting, but the best part is the comfort it provides in order to get our doubts clear.
Careers360- Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?
Mohd Tabish- Yes, the Newsletter Committee, is responsible for bringing up the latest happenings and events taking place in Indus Business Academy, Bangalore. We have a magazine called “Udghosh”.
Apart from the Newsletter Committee, each Club has its own magazine which covers the events of the Club itself, such as, ‘Gondola’ by Club Barcodes etc.,
Careers360- What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?
Mohd Tabish- The open air Amphitheatre, the grocery store, the basketball court, the football ground, the area near the mess, etc. are the popular hangouts at Indus Business Academy, Bangalore.
Few malls and supermarkets, nearby, along with the Art of Living Ashram, and other tourist spots in Bangalore are the most-visited places nearby.
There are a few water-falls and hill station spots, at a distance of 30 to 60 kms.

Mohd Tabish- In campus of Indus Business Academy, Bangalore, I play Table-Tennis, Football, Carom, but mostly Volleyball and spend my leisure time. Indus Business Academy, Bangalore also provides a TV room in the Hostels, which is very popular particularly during the matches.
Careers360- Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?

Careers360- What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?
