Careers360 brings you an interview with Dr. Ramaswamy Ambarish, Dean at Myra School of Business, Mysore. In this interview, Dr. Ramaswamy talks about the college infrastructure, vision, mission, and admission process.
Careers360: Tell us something about the institute; when it was set up, Vision and Mission
Dr. Ramaswamy:
About MYRA School of Business (MSB)
MYRA School of Business is an innovatively designed business school established in 2012 at Mysore under the aegis of the Mysore Royal Academy (MYRA). The school’s avant-garde and the architecturally acclaimed campus were inaugurated on November 4th, 2012 by Padma Bhushan Deepak Parekh, Chairman of HDFC.
MSB faculty is an eclectic mix of academic excellence and industry experience. It features professors with impeccable academic credentials from leading institutions including IIMs, IITs, JNU, NYU Stern, Texas A&M, University of Texas, Duke, and Harvard University. MSB Faculty comprises many professors with sterling track records in the industry and a wealth of real-world experience. In particular, it includes several industry leaders as Professors of Practice.
The school’s business education model has been developed in the context of the emerging need for a relook at current business education needs, given the rapidly growing focus on emerging market economies. MSB strives to prepare its students for a world yet to be imagined, to manage markets that are yet to emerge, and to lead decisively in situations that cannot be predicted.
MSB’s Vision
To be ranked in the Top 10 in India by a recognized agency/forum.
MSB’s Mission
To develop future-ready, globally competent, and socially conscious business leaders grounded in Indian ethos.
Careers360: Tell us something about the admission process?
Dr. Ramaswamy:
Step 1 – Online Application
Step 2 – Academic Profile Evaluation
Step 3 – Entrance Test
Step 4 – Admission Interview
Step 5 – Offer Acceptance
Applicants who clear all 4 stages of the admission process and qualify for admission (as deemed fit for the program by the Office of Admissions) will receive a provisional Admissions Offer. Candidates are expected to accept their offer for admission within 72 hours of receiving the offer letter to ensure admission to the program of choice. Any candidate who is offered admission is expected to confirm admission at the earliest to avoid disappointment. If an applicant is put on the waitlist, the candidate must wait until the completion of admissions in the given admission cycle to hear back from the Office of Admissions.
Careers360: What Kind of infrastructure can students expect at the institute? Please elaborate?
Dr. Ramaswamy: MSB’s Building architecture has often been referred to as “poetry in concrete”. The academic architecture resonates with our vision and mission. It is designed to create two worlds – futuristic exterior image, a facade that expresses the aspirations of the institution and all the stakeholders and the interior world is a microcosm of the city, a series of public spaces and quadrangle, drama of light and shades, and a stunningly beautiful library for knowledge sharing and discovery.
The campus features a floating classroom, 4 lecture halls, a 200-seater auditorium, 1 amphitheatre, 1 board room, 14 faculty offices, a 3-level library, 1lounge, an administrative block, a cafeteria, and ample open learning spaces to promote creativity and collaboration.
The MSB campus is a radical departure from the traditional “stuffy classrooms and narrow hallways” model. It encourages students to wonder, reflect, and think. It addresses the specific needs of management students – fostering an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, collaboration, and networking.
Careers360: There is a lot of stress that is being made with regard to interaction with the industry as well as companies that recruit. What are the steps being taken by the institute in this direction?
Dr. Ramaswamy: At MYRA School of Business, industry interaction is at the core of our academic and career development strategy. We recognize that meaningful engagement with the corporate world is critical for bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world business challenges. Here are some of the key steps we are taking in this direction:

In essence, we ensure that industry engagement is not a one-time event, but a continuous, evolving part of the MYRA experience.
Careers360: Internships are now mandatory as per AICTE guidelines. Does the institute help students with this? If yes how?
Dr. Ramaswamy: Yes, MYRA School of Business fully supports students in securing internships, in line with AICTE’s guidelines, and considers them a vital part of the learning experience. We have a structured and proactive approach to ensure every student gets meaningful internship opportunities that align with their career goals. Here's how we support this:
Dedicated Career Services Team:
Our Career Services Office works closely with students to identify their interests, strengths, and career aspirations, and matches them with relevant internship opportunities across industries.
Wide Network of Corporate Partners:
MYRA has built strong relationships with a wide range of companies—ranging from start-ups to MNCs—which regularly offer internship roles in marketing, finance, analytics, HR, operations, and more.
Pre-Internship Training & Readiness:
We provide students with training on resume building, interview preparation, communication skills, and domain knowledge to ensure they are well-prepared and confident when engaging with recruiters.
Live Project Opportunities:
In addition to internships, students are also encouraged to work on live consulting projects with companies, giving them hands-on exposure to real business problems even before the internship begins.
Faculty & Mentor Support:
Faculty members and industry mentors guide students throughout their internship journey—helping them set goals, applies classroom learning, and reflect on their experiences for maximum value.
Through these efforts, MYRA ensures that every student not only completes the mandatory internship but also gains valuable industry experience that adds substance to their professional profile.
Careers360: Can you please share details if there is any collaboration with universities abroad?
Dr. Ramaswamy: Yes, MYRA School of Business has established meaningful international collaborations to provide students with valuable global exposure. These partnerships are designed to enhance cross-cultural understanding, broaden academic perspectives, and prepare students for careers in a globally connected business world. Some of the Top companies that I know are HDFC, Acer, Protiviti, Brigade group, Oyo,Infosys, Sonata Software, UB group etc. Best is to ask students of current batch or previous batch to give proper feedback. You could also call up the placement director and ask for student refernces of last 2 batches.
