IIM Shillong has released the admission criteria for the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) batch of 2017-19. After CAT 2016, candidates will be selected in two phases. In the first phase, a short list of candidates would be declared for the Written Ability Test(WAT) and Personal Interview (PI).In the second phase, a final merit list will be prepared on the basis of which admission to the PGP (2017-19) batch will be offered. The process in each of these phases is described in the following sections.
The following table brings to you the category wise CAT 2016 cutoff and the past academic records.
IIM Shillong Cutoff
Section A – CAT 2016 Percentile (VARC)
Section B – CAT 2016 Percentile (DI & LR)
Section C – CAT 2016 Quantitative Ability (QA)
Based on the cutoffs mentioned in the above table, IIM Shillong will obtain the number of candidates who would be considered for shortlisting.
The shortlisted candidates will be further segregated into seven Academic Categories (AC) as per their graduation academic disciplines. From each Academic Category a certain percentage of candidates would be shortlisted for WSAT and PI.
The final shortlist would be based on the candidates’ academic background on Bachelor’s Degree and category. The candidates would then be ranked in the decreasing order of their overall CAT percentile.
Hence, the total number of shortlist will be based on the candidates’ overall performance in CAT 2016, the number of seats available, buffer for possible overlap and attendance trends in the past, etc.
Phase 2: Merit Listing for Admission Offer to PGP 2017 Batch
Scores of WSAT and PI will be used along with overall CAT performance for the preparation of the final merit list for admission offer. WSAT and PI scores will be clubbed together. The scores of WSAT and PI and the Overall CAT Absolute Score will be normalised for the preparation of the merit list.
The formula which will be used for preparing the final merit list is given below:
Hence, the weights assigned to the WSAT & PI and CAT 2016 scores are given in the table below:
