Careers360: Tell us something about yourself such as from which place are you from?

Answer: I am Subha Rasappan from Tamil Nadu. I am currently pursuing, Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Hospital & Health Management) at IIHMR Bangalore. I did my graduation in Anesthesia Technology. I was more interested in the management field than the clinical field during my undergraduate days. That’s why I have selected this profession.

Careers360: Presently which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?

Answer: I am currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Hospital & Health Management) at IIHMR Bangalore. I have completed my first year and am currently undergoing my summer training program.

Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Answer: No, I didn’t face any difficulties out here. The faculties and the non-teaching staff were very friendly and approachable. We had an induction program that helped us to get to know each other. So the initial months were not that difficult to handle.

Careers360: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Answer: The institute offers a wide range of activities that provide the knowledge, skills and experience needed to excel in the chosen field. Yes, we have journal club, cultural committee, entrepreneurship club, Green club, etc. I am the class representative of my batch. I have participated in all the cultural and sports events organized in the institute.

Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute. What do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Answer: I stay in the institute’s hostel and used to wake up by 7’o clock and get ready for the institute. I would reach the institute by 9:30 AM and do a few of my routine class representative duties. There will be a Morning assembly and the lecture starts at 10 AM. We used to have activities, role plays in between the lectures. The class ends at 3:30 PM and the club activities start at 4 PM and end by 5:30 PM. I go to the library or to play some days after class. Once I come back to the hostel, after getting refreshed, I complete my assignments or sometimes I go to the shopping street nearby and this is my routine.

Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Answer: The faculty-student ratio will be 1:20 approximately. The faculties are highly qualified and experienced with diverse backgrounds in healthcare management and related fields and they are really friendly and supportive. Each student will be assigned a faculty mentor and they will help us to overcome our barriers towards our goal. Not only the mentor, but the students can also approach any faculty in case of any difficulty in their modules, projects and others as well.

Careers360: What facilities do you have on campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Answer: We have a library, computer lab, badminton court, Outdoor sports facilities, Healthcare facilities and so on. Access to research articles in the Library and on mobile phones is unique.

Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?

Answer: The hostels provide us with a safe and comfortable living environment. The rooms are equipped with basic amenities such as beds, wardrobes, study tables and sofas. We have 24/7 Security and also housekeeping staff who clean the rooms and common areas regularly to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.

Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Answer: Doctors come to the campus every Wednesday and it is a free consultation. In case of emergency, the institute will take the student to a nearby hospital with supporting staff. The emergency healthcare facility contact numbers are also displayed on the notice board.

Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Answer: I use to prioritize, plan and create a schedule for studying and project completion. I will stick to the schedule as much as possible to stay on track. I motivate myself by setting goals and celebrating my successes.

Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?

Answer: Yes, we have PULSE, an e-newsletter which is published once in two months and it narrates the latest events/happenings and student’s achievements at the institute.

Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Answer: We have Neeladri, Electronic City nearby that is only 1.5 km away from the institute. All sorts of entertainment, restaurants,temples and shopping areas are out there and that would be the most visited place of mine.

Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time at campus?

Answer: I mostly spend my leisure time playing badminton on campus or I will go to the library.

Careers360: Do you have any Facebook page on your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?

Answer: Yes, you can find out about our blog in the IIHMR Bangalore website, Facebook page, Instagram account and LinkedIn too.

Careers360: What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?

Answer: We get companies like Deloitte, Narayana Health, Phoenix Compliance, Hx Central, Karkinos Healthcare, Kauvery Hospitals, Apollo, Care Hospitals, etc. The institute has a dedicated placement cell that assists us in securing internships and placements and it has a record of 100 % placements every year.
