Compared to last year, IIM Calcutta admission criteria 2018-20 has remained same as last year in terms of CAT cutoff, shortlist and final selection parameters and assigned weightages. The first step includes shortlisting CAT takers on the basis of sectional and overall cutoff percentile. IIM Calcutta cutoff varies from category to category. Along with CAT 2017 cutoff, IIM Calcutta will also consider past academic records (Class X and XII scores) and Gender Diversity factor. Let us take a look at the IIM Calcutta admission criteria 2018-20 in detail.

Although CAT cutoff for General, NC-OBC, SC and ST categories have remained same, the sectional cutoff for PWD/DA category candidates has reduced from 65 percentile to 60 percentile. The primary shortlist criterion is fulfilling the CAT cutoff. Once the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of this, their past academic criteria is assessed. According to IIM Calcutta, for computing the percentage of marks obtained in Class X and Class XII, the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade sheet would be considered irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage.

The composite cut-off score is used for short-listing the candidates for the PI stage in each category. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

 

Final Selection Criteria

 

The parameters considered for final selection include CAT 2017 score, performance in WAT-PI, academic diversity at Bachelor’s degree and work experience. Take a look at the weightages assigned to each factor.

Although CAT scores were assigned highest weightage for short-listing, when it comes to final selection, Personal Interview round performance carries maximum weightage, which is 48 per cent, followed by CAT 2017 score, which is 30 per cent.

 

Work Experience

Maximum weightage for work experience factor is four, based on the full time service tenure till January 31, 2018. Regarding the work experience factor, IIM Calcutta mentions, “However, only managerial work experience after graduation will be considered. Training/Project work/work done as an integral part of curricular requirement will not be considered.”

The final selection list will be based on merit in each category; minimum qualification on the above mentioned criteria would not automatically qualify the candidate for admission into IIM Calcutta.
