Careers360: Tell us something about the institute; when it was set up, vision and mission

Dr. P Sivakumar: I Business Institute is a well-reputed Management Institute strategically located in the knowledge hub of NCR thereby opening up a plethora of opportunities for the budding managers. It was set up in the year 2008 by eminent personalities. It offers a two-year, full- time PGDM program approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. A number of expert professionals from various industries, academia and policy makers are associated with IBI providing advisory, training and faculty support.

Keeping pace with the ever-evolving education scenario, IBI has taken major initiatives in terms of programmes, curriculum development, corporate linkages, placements and students’ development. It has developed an incubation centre where students can gain hands-on experience in innovation and entrepreneurship while being nurtured and encouraged by the entire team.

Careers360: Tell us something about the admission process?

Dr. P Sivakumar: I Business Institute admissions process consists of a Written Test followed by a Panel Interview and Dean's Interview. To evaluate the communication and analytical capabilities of prospective students, the written test is conducted for all the applicants. Final Selection of the candidate is based Academic Score + CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT + Written Test + Work experience + Panel Interview Score + Dean's Interview Score.

Selection would be based on entrance exam score plus interview plus the overall academic record of the candidate. Application Form and Prospectus are available on payment of Rs. 1100/- by DD at the institute. Form can also be downloaded from the I Business Institute website. Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of "I Business Institute" payable at Greater Noida. Applicants can also apply online by paying Rs. 1100/- through Net Banking or by Debit/Credit Cards. Duly filled application form must be submitted to I Business Institute, along with copies of 10th, 12th, Graduation certificates and scorecard of CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT. In case of online application, candidate should carry a print out of the completed application form on the day of Panel Interview/Dean's Interview. Applicants should bring their original documents at the time of interview along with one set of photocopies of all the documents.

Careers360: What kind of infrastructure can students expect at the institute? Please elaborate?

Dr. P Sivakumar: I Business Institute, Greater Noida, offers world-class facilities to students for holistic development. The campus is equipped with a library, modern classrooms, computer lab, auditorium, cafeteria, hostel, gym, etc.

  • Class Rooms: IBI has theatre-style designed classrooms. The classrooms are centrally air-conditioned and are a blend of modern and traditional modes of teaching with technological aids like LCD projectors, Wi-Fi, green boards and podium for faculty to provide a true learning environment to the students.
  • Seminar Halls: IBI consists of two well-furnished state-of-the-art 45-seater Seminar halls for conducting academic activities like seminars, presentations, group discussion, corporate conclave, webinars and small conferences.
  • Auditorium: IBI has a 260-seater state-of-the-art splendid air-conditioned auditorium with all the latest equipment to host various academic activities.
  • Library: The Library with its modern collection of knowledge resources and innovative information services plays an essential role for the academic community in their intellectual pursuits. Library at IBI is a well-developed, fully air-conditioned, state-of-the-art structure, with a rich collection of printed as well as electronic resources, which include books (around 24000), databases etc. The library is well equipped with wide ranging books from all the management streams, magazines, journals, research papers and theses. The library has currently been subscribed to 50 selected periodicals in print form and online access over 10,000 periodicals. The library has been subscribing to prestigious electronic databases like Business Source Complete (EBSCO Publishing), Economic Outlook, J-gate Plus Social & Management Science Portal, CMIE-PROWESS etc. A reading / seating capacity of 110 students at a time in the IBI library, provides a peaceful ambience ideal for uninterrupted pursuit of knowledge and skills for the students.
  • IT Infrastructure: At IBI, all students are issued his/her laptop along with a dedicated lease line Internet connection with a bandwidth of 100 MBPS. At IBI the students have ready access to up to date technological computer lab with 90 numbers of computers available to the students for web browsing.
  • Centre for Incubation: A few new businesses and start-ups have received access to the Center, which they intend to use to expand their projects. Thanks to this Centre, students have been encouraged to broaden their knowledge exponentially. It has evolved into a place where they can meet and learn from some of India’s most prominent entrepreneurs. In a dedicated space on campus, a group of industry mentors and faculty support it.
  • Cafeteria: On the second floor, a restaurant can hold 70 to 80 students at a time. It provides snacks, ready-to-eat, and freshly cooked meals at low prices. The Institute’s administration regularly inspects the hygiene and food quality conditions. Language School: Language Lab is a specialized English language communication laboratory at the Institute focusing solely on enhancing communication abilities. It is a cutting-edge lab with the most recent multimedia equipment. An audio-visual installation called the language laboratory is used in contemporary methods of teaching foreign languages. The lab provides a unique, effective, and result-oriented approach to enhancing English language learning.
  • Gymnasium: All students have access to a gym, which is located at the Institute. A professionally managed environment is created for students and it aligns to help students grow healthy. Girls’ Common Room: IBI has created a separate standard room for girls that is absolutely “their own relaxation zone” to meet the needs of the students and provide them with the opportunity to connect, socialize, and share their thoughts with others on the campus. The students on the campus come from all over the country. The students can spend quality time in their comfort zone because the rooms are large, well lit, and ventilated. The separate standard room has a mirror and a well-fitted washbasin for girls’ recreation and dressing.
  • Hostel: Boys and girls alike can stay in the Institute’s hostel. The hostels have all the most recent amenities for a cozy and comfortable stay. According to the rules for the hostel, students must pay extra to use these services. The hostel offers twin-sharing rooms with all the essential amenities and comfortable, homey lodging exclusively for girls on a first-come, first-served basis. Our hostel, inside the college campus, provides students with a homey and secure environment.

Careers360: There is a lot of stress that is being made with regard to interaction with the industry as well as companies that recruit. What are the steps being taken by the institute in this direction?

Dr. P Sivakumar: Many organizations today prefer professional management graduates as they are equipped with real-world knowledge and skill set that helps them to handle challenges better than others. The course is designed in such a way that it is industry-centric. The atmosphere at the institution is quite different from a regular classroom. Students will get a lot of hands-on corporate exposure, which helps to increase the communication skills. They will also be able to sharpen their interpersonal skills, decision-making capacity and analytical skills. The course offers practical exposure to industries through industry experts talks, internships and live projects that help students to build their corporate network which even helps them to fetch Pre Placement offers. Students also gets to meet industry leaders and gain first-hand insights as to how business functions. Apart from intense classroom sessions, they also get real-time exposure to the world of business.

We have a dedicated training and placement team to promote employability of students through industry engagements. The organization will definitely be looking forward to well-informed candidates. The training and placement team helps the students to browse the news portal in its field and absorb as much information as possible. This will help the students to stay updated in that field. Punctuality is something all organizations look forward to in their staff. The team is training the students to be punctual in all their activities. Careers360: Internships are now mandatory as per AICTE guidelines. Does the institute help students with this? If yes how?

Dr. P Sivakumar: Internship is mandatory to get PGDM degree at IBI. IBI has separate team for summer internship programme. The team consists of faculty, staff and students. IBI has list of well-known organization for the summer internship programme. Creditability of a new company is assessed by team and then included in the summer internship organization list. The summer internship team is coordinating with the organizations and the required information is shared with the students. Interested students list is shared with the organization by summer internship team. Summer internship team in accordance with organizations has finalized the date of interview.

Summer internship is ranges from 10 to 12 weeks and is normally during the month of May to July every year. Also, IBI has registered with AICTE’s internship portal, which provides information related to summer internship projects in various companies and various locations. Around 85 percent of students who have got stipend for their summer internship and Dukes India has offered highest domestic stipend of Rs.30, 000 in the year 2022-23. The average stipend is Rs.12000. The number of companies that offered summer internship to the students was 96.

The students who got summer internship project is maximum in FMCG to the extent of 20 % followed by BFSI, Consulting, and Telecommunication to the tune of 13 % respectively in the year 2022-23. Students who got summer internship in Retail, e-commerce, and manufacturing have recorded 10 % each.

Careers360: Can you please share details if there is any collaboration with universities abroad?

Dr. P Sivakumar: It is essential to see if the management institute is providing the global exposure or not. I Business Institute always puts an effort in making its students ready for various industries and the corporates globally. It has collaborated with well known Universities and Institutes across the globe. Nanyang Business School-Singapore, Singapore Management University-Singapore, IFRA-Canada, and Fordham University-USA are currently engaged in collaboration with IBI.

Careers360: Please share placement statistics with information on the average package, highest and lowest package, number of students placed and details of companies that have recruited.

Dr. P Sivakumar: Total numbers of students graduated in 2022-23 academic year are 167 and total numbers of students placed are 161. Students who opted out of placement for entrepreneurship are 6. Highest domestic salary (offered by Khimji Ramdas) was Rs.19 Lakhs per annum. Average domestic salary is Rs.6.5 Lakhs per annum and lowest salary is Rs.4.5 Lakhs. Highest international salary offered is Rs. 35 Lakh (offered by Siaci Saint Honore). Some of the organization which recruited the IBI students are; Aptara Incorporation, AU Small Finance bank, Bajaj Capital, Best Practices LLC, Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited, BuyerForesight, BYJUS, Carwale, Coolboots Media Pvt Ltd, Crisil and many others
