For ICFAI Business School MBA admission, candidates need to appear in an entrance exam, such as IBSAT/ CAT/ GMAT/ NMAT by GMAC/ XAT and must obtain a valid score. In the interview below, Arjun Singh Negi shares his campus life experience while pursuing an MBA programme at IBS Dehradun with Careers 360. To know more about the IBS Dehradun MBA, check the conversation below.

Careers360: Tell us something about yourself. (A bit of the background like graduation, place and any such thing).

Arjun Singh Negi: I’m Arjun Singh Negi, a B.Com graduate from CCS University, hailing from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. My interest in commerce began during my school days, which later inspired me to pursue my graduation in this field.

I’ve always been curious about how businesses operate and how financial decisions shape their growth, which motivated me to continue my academic journey with an MBA at IBS Dehradun.

Apart from academics, I enjoy reading about new business trends, exploring new things, and spending time outdoors — it helps me stay creative and balanced. I believe in the quote, “Learning never stops when curiosity begins.” That mindset keeps me motivated to keep growing, both personally and professionally.

Careers360: Tell us something about your IBS campus and what made you choose it. My Experience at IBS Dehradun

Arjun Singh Negi: IBS Dehradun is not just a campus, it’s an experience in itself. Surrounded by the scenic beauty of the hills, the environment here is peaceful and full of positive energy — the perfect place to learn and grow. What I love most about IBS Dehradun is its balance between academics and overall development. The faculty members are always supportive and approachable, and they encourage us to think beyond books.

I chose IBS Dehradun because I wanted to be part of a place that focuses not just on education but also on shaping personalities. The practical learning approach, interactive sessions, and friendly atmosphere make every day exciting. It truly feels like a second home where we are constantly learning, evolving, and preparing for the future.

Careers360: What is the course you are pursuing at IBS, and what made you choose this specialisation?

Arjun Singh Negi: I’m currently pursuing an MBA with a specialisation in Finance at IBS Dehradun. I chose this specialisation because I’ve always been interested in understanding how businesses manage money, make investments, and plan for financial growth. Finance, to me, is the backbone of every organisation — it’s where strategy meets number.

IBS Dehradun’s practical approach to learning, through case studies and interactive sessions, has made this journey even more exciting. The finance specialisation allows me to explore real-world financial scenarios, analyse markets, and build decision-making skills that are essential for my future career.

Careers360: Summer internship is mandatory in all IBS campuses. Where did you pursue it, and what was the duration? What were the steps to get into it?

Arjun Singh Negi: As part of the IBS curriculum, every student completes a summer internship to gain real-world exposure — and for me, it turned out to be one of the most valuable learning experiences of my journey so far. I completed my internship at Alliance Vission, where I worked in the field of Financial Risk Management for three and a half months.

The process to get the Internship was systematic and exciting. With guidance from our faculty and placement team, I prepared my resume, applied to several organisations, and went through interviews before being selected by Alliance Vission.

During my internship, I got hands-on experience in analysing financial risks, studying market trends, and understanding how businesses make strategic financial decisions. It gave me a clear idea of how the concepts we learn in class apply in the real world. This internship not only improved my technical knowledge but also taught me the importance of teamwork, time management, and adaptability.

Careers360: Please give details on the assistance you received from the faculty, peers and placement office with regard to the internships?

Arjun Singh Negi: One of the best parts of being at IBS Dehradun is the constant support we receive from our faculty, peers, and the placement office. During my internship process, the placement team played a major role — they guided us through every step, from preparing our resumes and sharpening our interview skills to connecting us with the right companies.

Our faculty members were always there to mentor and motivate us. They helped me understand the practical aspects of finance and how to apply theoretical knowledge in real situations, which really boosted my confidence before starting the internship.

My peers also made the experience more enjoyable. We shared ideas, prepared together, and encouraged each other throughout the process. This teamwork and positive atmosphere made the entire internship journey smoother and more meaningful.

Careers360: How was your experience with the summer internships? What are the key takeaways that you can look back on from it?

Arjun Singh Negi: My summer internship was an incredible learning journey that helped me bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world application. Working at Alliance Vission in the area of Financial Risk Management gave me a deeper understanding of how financial decisions are made and the importance of analysing risks before taking any strategic step.

The experience taught me not only about finance but also about professionalism, teamwork, and communication. I learned how to handle responsibilities, meet deadlines, and adapt to new challenges — lessons that go beyond academics.

One of my biggest takeaways was realising how theory turns into practice. Every task I worked on, from data analysis to financial reporting, helped me connect classroom concepts to real business situations. The internship also boosted my confidence and gave me a clearer vission of the career path I want to follow.

My peers also made the experience more enjoyable. We shared ideas, prepared together, and encouraged each other throughout the process. This teamwork and positive atmosphere made the entire internship journey smoother and more meaningful.
