Careers 360: Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested or you switched?
Ankit: Domain- Brand Partnerships. Work Profile- I am currently heading the influencer marketing vertical -ZeeFluence, and branded content partnerships- all news channels at Zee Media Corporation Limited. I started my career in Hospitality and after pursuing PGDM, I continued working in Media Sales. This industry is dynamic, always evolving, and keeps you engaged with new learnings.
Careers 360: Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?
Ankit: It’s been 13 years in the Media Sector. I started as a Management Trainee with Big 92.7 FM in 2012 and currently leading the content sales for top news channels in the country. It’s a path that I had always aimed for. The journey has been enriching with knowledge, and I am honored and privileged to contribute to my workplace.
Careers 360: Is the Industry work different from what you learned at JIMS Ranchi?
Ankit: The learnings I have had from JIMS are relevant to date. Execution/Practical application may vary as per the changing trends.
Careers 360: How do you think your time in college has added value to your life, both professional and personal?
Ankit: I had a wonderful time at JIMS. The biggest value that it provided me with is to become a better version of self, personally and professionally, and for which I am always indebted to this place.
Careers360: What was your initial thought process when you joined JIMS?
Ankit: My initial thought process was to get placed in a good company. I was focused on the end goal instead of the application/approach to achieve the desired outcome.
Careers 360: You must have spent a memorable time at your Jagan Institute of Management Studies. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.
Ankit: I genuinely miss it. It was both fun and mentally challenging as well. The friends I made, and the fact that we are still connected to date, are perhaps the best things that happened. Teamwork, celebrating small wins, becoming a person who is easy to work with- All these things are quite underrated, yet they play a critical role in life afterwards. The foundation of this is laid in the college.
Careers 360: Briefly take us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do, and your routine life.
Ankit: Majorly, we spent time studying and unwinding ourselves by being engaged with other areas like sports, cultural events, etc. Trimesters always keep you busy and one day you look and realise that two years have gone by.
Careers 360: Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in and how did it enrich your life?
Ankit: I have always felt good about contributing to the society. While sports have been one of the activities, the college also provided me immense opportunities to work with NGOs and do my bit. I used to teach students at the All-India Confederation of Blind and this is by far the most enriching part of my life to date.
Careers 360: How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements and what was the role of the institute in it?
Ankit: Learning should never stop even after graduating from college. An institute's role is to help you form a habit of continuous learning and striving for incremental progress.
Careers 360: You are a proud alumnus of this top College. What is the best part of JIMS from a student's perspective?
Ankit: This place offers a complete package, to help one grow and excel. The X factor is its team of faculty members. I believe JIMS has the best faculty in the country and never compromised on this aspect since its inception.
Careers 360: What is your suggestion/guidance for the PGDM course aspirants?
Ankit: Make the most of these two years and you will surprise yourself with amazing results. Happy learning!
