Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.

Answer: I'm Ritika Thakkar, currently pursuing my PGPM from IBS Ahmedabad. I am a self-motivated individual belonging to the city of Bokaro, Jharkhand. I have completed my undergraduate degree in Commerce. I began my educational journey at St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, where I earned my undergraduate degree with a solid academic performance. Additionally, I have experience as a Business Development Manager in the founding team of Job India Consultancy, where I played a key role in developing the organization's mission and vision. I also have experience as a CA Intern at Gaddhyan & Associates, where I gained hands-on experience in accounting and taxation practices. Apart from academics and professional interests, I'm actively involved in co-curricular activities. I serve as a Core Committee Member of the My View Club and Aasra, the Social Service Club at IBS-A. I'm also a member of the Marketing Club, Milestone, at IBS-A. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and listening to music.

Careers360: Summer internship is mandatory in all IBS campuses. Where did you pursue it and what was the duration? What were the steps to get into it?

Answer: My passion for business and marketing led me to gain practical experience through a summer internship at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. in Ahmedabad. The process was initiated by the SIP assistance team 3 months prior to the actual start of the internship. The resumes were shortlisted by the HR team of Hindustan Coca – Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. The shortlisting process was followed by a Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. I am thankful to our faculty mentors and SIP assistance team which prepared us well for the process. Today I feel extremely happy to share that I not only got the chance to do my internship with a reputed firm like HCCB Pvt.Ltd but also secured a Pre Placement Offer from the firm . I would be joining the organisation immediately after the completion of my PGPM program in the month of May 2024.

Careers360: Please give details on the assistance you received from the faculty, peers and placement / SIP office with regard to the internships?

Answer: First and foremost, my professors and academic advisors played a significant role in guiding me through the internship process. They helped me identify internship opportunities that aligned with my career goals and academic interests. They provided advice on how to tailor my resume and cover letter for specific roles and offered feedback on my application materials.

And the combined support from peers, and the Placement/SIP Office made a significant difference in my SIP experience. It helped me secure a meaningful internship, gain practical industry knowledge, and build a network of professionals that I can continue to leverage in my future career. I am grateful for the guidance and assistance I received from these sources, as it contributed to a successful and enriching internship experience.

Careers360: How was your experience with the summer internships? What are the key takeaways that you can look back on from it?

Answer: My passion for business and marketing led me to gain practical experience through a summer internship at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. in Ahmedabad. During this internship, I had the opportunity to work on a project titled 'Establish Returnable Glass Bottles (RGB) at rupees 10,' where I collaborated with cross-functional teams to drive brand recognition and revenue growth. I was able to generate approximately 1.2 Crore in sales by the end of the internship.

Careers360: What is the course you are pursuing at IBS and what made you choose this specialisation?

Answer: I am pursuing the PGPM programme with the specialisation in the field of Marketing. My passion for business and marketing led me to gain practical experience through a summer internship at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. in Ahmedabad. During this internship, I had the opportunity to work on a project titled 'Establish Returnable Glass Bottles (RGB) at rupees 10,' where I collaborated with cross-functional teams to drive brand recognition and revenue growth. I was able to generate approximately 1.2 Crore in sales by the end of the internship."

During my internship, I had the privilege to work on a transformative project called "ROM" (Ring of Magic), which aimed to showcase the extraordinary talents and aspirations of youth. It was a two-month paid internship that pushed me to my limits and helped me grow both professionally and personally. I also worked for the world’s biggest event The ICC world cup match started in Ahmedabad with the first match where I served the team and market with our brand and products, to make a difference in a consumption pattern with our brand’s unique solution.

Today I can proudly say that my dedication, institutional support and strong academic background has led me through my transformational journey from being an intern to an employee at HCCB Pvt.Ltd.
