KIIT School of Rural Management (KSRM) was established in 2006, is located in the city of Bhubaneswar. It is affiliated to KIIT University. KSRM is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The institute offers two postgraduate level courses in agriculture and management like MBA Agribusiness Management and MBA Rural Management. KIIT School of Rural Management, Bhubaneswar also has collaborations with organisations like TISS, FAO, World Bank,Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia, and TERI.

Careers360 brings you an interview with Manish Kumar Behera, Alumnus KIIT School of Rural Management. He completed his MBA in Rural Management from KIIT School of Rural Management. Careers360. Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested in, or did you switch?

Manish. I'm Manish Kumar Behera, and I got placed at Midland Microfin Limited, which encourages entrepreneurship amongst women as a sustainable source of livelihood by providing business loans for working capital. I did my MBA in Rural Management and have been associated with the development and financial sector.

Careers360. Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?

Manish. In 2021, I got my first MBA internship at Gram Vikas, which is a development organization that enables sustainable and equitable processes for a dignified quality of life in rural communities where. I worked as an Action researcher, where I found that one of the most important things for development is capital which made me change my perspective into different dimensions. The second internship gave me a boost when I got an internship at Tata Capital Financial Services, where I worked as a Project Trainee. Since then, I have been fascinated by the process of solving financial inclusion, and so did my third internship as a Management Trainee at Midland Microfin, from where I got the Pre Placement Offer from the company.

Careers360. Is the Industry work different from what you learned at KSRM College?

Manish. The classroom studies prepare us with the basic concepts and overview, the assignments prepare us for the work, and the internships give us practical exposure to use our skills and learnings.

Careers360. How do you think your time in college has added value to your life, both professional and personal?

Manish. KSRM gave me the confidence to face and solve new challenges. As a student, I was active in almost all college Committees and events, which immensely helped me in my professional network building. I found my best friends Pratik, Prasad, Yash, Anish, Mahima, Pema, and Smriti dii at KSRM. They are now the pillars of my life.

Careers360. What was your initial thought process when you joined KSRM College?

Manish. My initial thought was to get a good job where my work would be related to rural development, but I got a lot more than that.

Careers360. You must have had a memorable time at KSRM. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.

Manish. I miss the walk around the campus and KIIT road with my study group and my Trio group, Saturday dinner with my best friends, and meeting faculty at their chamber for taking guidance and group assignments.

Careers360. Briefly take us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do, and your routine life.

Manish. I was the SPOC or single person of contact for our Newsletter team and was a part of the Alumni Relation committee. On weekdays or weekends, I was always busy with some work. This gave me good access to my teachers, Alumni, and our admin staff. I liked spending time on my KIIT Campus. I vividly remember those days when my friends and I used to play badminton on our KSRM campus.

Careers360. Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in, and how did they enrich your life?

Manish. My best friends and I love to talk about spirituality and meditation, and we have a crazy love for movies. We watched and analyzed movies that, between You, your parents, and life, there is always a phase where friends and your small groups are important. Our favorite was "RRR and Dear Comrade.” The movies left a huge impression on our lives.

Careers360. How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements, and what was the role of the institute in it?

Manish. At KSRM, we used to have seminars with eminent corporate personalities that gave us a good idea about the skills we needed to develop. Our professors used to guide us during our class assignments and lectures on what areas we should focus on to prepare ourselves better.

Careers360. You are a proud alumnus of this top college. What is the best part of KSRM from a student's perspective?

Manish. The best part of KSRM are its subjects taught, the three professional internships, teachers, staff, and infrastructure; we have the best garden library, smart classrooms, and canteen.

Careers360. What is your suggestion/guidance for the MBA Rural Management (Course) aspirants?

Manish. Make the most of the two years. Do your best and keep a winning spirit in yourself. Soak in as much knowledge as you can from teachers. Make new friends, and make new connections. The knowledge and friends will give you a boost in your life. Always feel proud to be a KIITian.

If you want a recognized MBA in Agribusiness Management with UGC-approved degrees and you are looking for a short career path in the sectors of Agriculture, development and rural management, and you want structured academics and decent resources and growing relationships with the industry, then KSRM, KIIT (ABM) is surely the better choice. IIPM Bangalore has been known, in the past, for its aggressive marketing and popularity, but there are negative sentiments in the professional arena regarding the lack of academic credibility over the past. Furthermore, they do not offer UGC-recognized degrees, which perhaps would hinder your career or postgraduate education and career goals in government jobs.

Verdict:

If you are looking for a legitimate, recognized, and secure degree with a future in sector-specific options for careers, choose KSRM, KIIT (ABM).

In your rank 117 433 in AP EAMCET 2020 you may get chances in civil engineering in JNTUA Anantapur Andhra Pradesh. It is  being said according to the previous years cutoff means 2019 cutoff was 129440 for civil engineering in JNTU Anantapur Andhra Pradesh
