Abhinav Kumar: The programme equipped me with practical skills, leadership qualities, and a strategic mindset. The internships and industry interactions helped bridge the gap between academic theories and real-world applications, significantly accelerating my career progression.

Careers360: What specific learning experiences from IM-BHU and the MBA programme have you found most valuable for your professional life?

Abhinav Kumar: Case studies, group discussions, and live projects were invaluable. These experiences honed my problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and decision-making skills. Learning from peers with diverse backgrounds also provided fresh perspectives.

Abhinav Kumar: As a student, the alumni network was a great resource. Alumni often conducted workshops, shared career advice, and offered mentorship, which was immensely beneficial.

Careers360: What were some of the unique challenges you faced in your career? How did you deal with them?

Abhinav Kumar: One major challenge was adapting to rapidly changing industry trends. I tackled it by upskilling through online courses and maintaining a habit of continuous learning.

Careers360: As an alumnus of IM-BHU, what do you think is unique about the institute and its MBA programmes compared to others?

Abhinav Kumar: MBA programme at IM-BHU stands out for its blend of traditional values and modern education. The strong focus on ethics, coupled with industry-relevant training, prepares students for holistic growth.

Careers360: Please give insights on the importance of building and expanding professional networks. How should students plan and build?

Abhinav Kumar: Networking is crucial for career advancement. Students should actively participate in events, use platforms like LinkedIn, and maintain connections with peers, faculty, and alumni. Starting early helps build a robust network.

Careers360: As part of IM-BHU’s alumni, how often do you meet with the other members? How does the network support each member?

Abhinav Kumar: Alumni meetings are held annually, and informal meet-ups are frequent. The network supports members by providing job referrals, mentorship, and collaboration opportunities.

Careers360: How do the alumni support current students at IM-BHU? Are you involved in these activities? If yes, please give details.

Abhinav Kumar: Alumni contribute by organising guest lectures, mentoring students, and offering internships. I have been involved in guiding students on career planning and conducting workshops.

Careers360: There is much talk of practical experience and a curriculum in sync with the industry as well as keeping up with technological advancements. What is your opinion on this? What would you suggest to today’s students on this?

Abhinav Kumar: Practical experience is essential, and the curriculum must evolve with industry needs. Students should focus on gaining hands-on experience through internships and learning emerging technologies like AI, data analytics, and digital marketing.

Careers360: As a professional, how would you advise a student to plan a career considering changes and upheavals in the industry?

Abhinav Kumar: Students should embrace lifelong learning and adaptability. Staying informed about industry trends and acquiring transferable skills like communication and critical thinking are key.

Careers360: It is a fact that learning never ends for any professional. In this context, how do you think one should prepare for career advancement with value additions? How can students identify these areas?

Abhinav Kumar: Professionals should regularly assess their skills and identify gaps based on industry demands. Students can identify value additional areas by seeking mentorship and exploring certifications or advanced courses in their domain.

Careers360: Any advice to students who wish to pursue an MBA?

Abhinav Kumar: Choose an MBA programme that aligns with your career goals. Focus on building soft skills and practical knowledge. Networking, internships, and staying proactive will make your MBA journey impactful.

This institute's programs and admission process are as follows -

  • Reservation - 27% for OBC, 15 % for SC, 7.5 % for ST, and 5% for PC.

Entry to MBA and MBA (IB) programs

  • CAT administered by IIM - 50% of CAT score.
  • Educational certificates -20% score.
  • GD and meeting (administered by FMS, BHU)- 30% score.

Admission to MBA program in BHU is done through CAT for which eligibility criteria is passed Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university with 50% aggregate, in case of SC/ST/PWD it's 45%. CAT scores are assigned 50%, academic records hold 20% weightage, Group discussion and Interview which is conducted by FMS, BHU holds 30% weightage.
