Continuing with the special series of Live Chat with Deans of top B-schools, Careers360 hosted the chat session with Pramod P Thevannoor, Director of School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS) Cochin on Friday, February 22, 2013.
The questions of the chat mostly revolved around admission process, placements, fee structure, scholarships, seats and much more.
Excerpts from the chat:
Pritesh Ponkiya: Can I apply at SCMS? What are the exams and cut offs you accept?
Pramod P Thevannoor: We accept CAT, MAT, XAT and CMAT score. The cut is generally 50 percentile of the total marks of the entrance test.
Pritesh Ponkiya: Do you also consider past academic scores, work ex etc.? Are there any scholarships?
Pramod P Thevannoor: Yes there is a weightage of 25% in the selection process. All students with 2 years plus of experience are eligible to apply for a merit based scholarship equivalent to 40% of the tuition fee. There is no limit on the number of scholarships for candidates with 2 years plus experience. The scholarship is based on work experience. As of now we have almost 25 students availing the scholarship.
Disha: I have got 85 percentile in XAT and 74.8 percentile in CAT. I'm a fresher with B. Com background. What chance do I have to get shortlisted and selected?
Pramod P Thevannoor: You stand a chance to be called for the GD/PI. Please note 50% of the weightage of the admission criteria is for GD and PI. Hence we are not in a position to commit about your selection now. You have not mentioned your graduation and earlier academic scores. With a good academic history you will be called for GD /PI. 50% of the weightage for the admission criteria is for the GD (20) / PI (30). So we will not be able to commit on the selection.

You have few chances of getting a seat.
As there will be some who will withdraw their seat and leave it vacant.
The chances of getting a seat at this waitlist number are low.
As admission to this college is based on the merit rank so you have fewer chances.
All the best.!!

The fees is paid in 2 instalments every semester in SCMS Pune. This time the merit list has been published on the 18th of August, 2021 so if you are asking about the admission fees, then you have to pay it after the counselling process when all your documents get verified from the college authorities. The exact date is unknown. The college authorities will give you an exact date when you need to pay the admission fees.
You need to ask the authorities if they refund the already paid amount when you are unable to take admission in the college. Anything about the refund policy is not announced by the college officials.

Hello there. Hope you are doing good. I would like to tell you that the things you should consider while looking for a college is the course curriculum, placements, faculties, college exposure etc. SCMS Noida definitely has some strict rules for the students as far as attendance and academic discipline is concerned. But, if the student performs well in examinations, then he/she should not worry about the unfavorable results. SCMS holds a good reputation and industry acceptance so all you need to do is hardwork in your academics and results will definitely be good. There are many such students who gets good percentage in their graduation from SCMS Noida and they get good placement opportunities too. So, dropping the college option for this reason won't be a good idea.
I hope you found this answer helpful. Good luck for your future.
