On Question asked by student community
Hello,
With CLAT All India Rank of 59,089 and OBC rank of 13,536, getting into top IPU law college (USLLS) is very unlikely but you may have a chance in lower ranked IPU law colleges or private IPU affiliated law colleges.
https://law.careers360.com/clat-college-predictor
Hope you understand.
Hello
With a CLAT AIR 32,000 and OBC rank around 7,000, chances in top IPU law colleges like USLLS (GGSIPU main campus) are very low, as they usually close much earlier.
For other IPU-affiliated colleges (like VIPS, JIMS, Trinity), admission through CLAT is rare because most seats are filled via IPU CET / CUET-UG.
However, there is a small chance of being selected in spot or mop-up rounds if seats remain vacant, especially in private IPU colleges.
You should definitely apply for IPU counselling and stay active till the last round.
Hope it will help you!!!
With a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) AIR of 32,000 and an OBC rank of 7,000, your chances for top-tier IPU (Indraprastha University) colleges like USLLS or VIPS are very low. However, you have a strong possibility of securing admission in several other affiliated private law colleges under IPU, especially if you have a Delhi Domicile.
Here is a breakdown of your chances based on previous year trends:
USLLS (University School of Law & Legal Studies): Extremely difficult. Closing ranks for Delhi OBC usually hover around 5,000–6,000.
VIPS (Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies): Unlikely for BA LLB, but slight chance for BBA LLB in spot rounds. Closing ranks typically end around 10,000–13,000.
Maharaja Agrasen (MAIMS) / Maharaja Surajmal (MSI): Difficult, as these usually close within the 15,000–20,000 range.
You have a decent chance at the following colleges, particularly in the later counseling rounds or spot rounds:
Chanderprabhu Jain College of Higher Studies: Previous trends show closing ranks extending beyond 30,000 for certain categories.
Fairfield Institute of Management & Technology (FIMT): High probability, as ranks often reach 25,000–35,000.
Ideal Institute of Management and Technology: Possible in Round 3 or Spot rounds.
JIMS Engineering Management Technical Campus (Greater Noida): Good chance, especially for the BBA LLB program.
Delhi Institute of Rural Development (DIRD): Very high probability.
Delhi vs. Outside Delhi Domicile: If you are a Delhi resident (passed 12th from a school in Delhi), 85% of seats are reserved for you, which significantly improves your chances.
BA LLB vs. BBA LLB: BBA LLB usually has slightly lower cutoffs (higher closing ranks) compared to BA LLB. If you are open to BBA LLB, your chances increase.
Counseling Rounds: Do not lose hope after Round 1. Ranks shift significantly in Round 3 and the Sliding/Spot Round.
Next Step: I recommend you use the https://law.careers360.com/clat-college-predictor specifically for IPU by entering your exact score and domicile status to see a filtered list of colleges where you are eligible.
Hello Garima,
You have a good chance of getting into the IPU, with a rank of 23,936, a Defense Quota and being a Delhi resident. This combination makes you a strong candidate. Being a Delhi resident lowers your competition in cutoff and having a Defense Quota can stretch the rank for you beyond the stipulated mark.
Therefore you must register for GGSIPU Counseling and get your documents verified. Do not forget to choose the "Float" option as it would help you to shift the seats in your favor in case you do not get your dream college in the first list.
Hope this helps you.
Thankyou.
Hello,
With a CLAT rank around 20,000 , getting a seat in top IPU law colleges like USLLS or VIPS is very unlikely , even with defence quota. In past years, these colleges usually closed at much lower ranks.
However, IPU has a 5% defence quota , which can help you get a seat at a higher rank than general category candidates. With defence quota, you may have a chance in lower-preferred IPU law colleges in later counselling rounds (sliding or spot rounds).
So, at 20k CLAT rank with defence quota :
Top IPU law colleges → Not possible
Other IPU-affiliated law colleges → Possible in later rounds
Seat is not guaranteed , depends on vacancies and your defence priority
You should participate in all counselling rounds and keep defence documents ready to improve your chances.
You can also use our CLAT College Predictor Tool to predict which colleges you can get based on your score and rank.
Hope it helps !
