I will be giving boards in March 2020 (commerce with maths), and planning to go for a crash course for management colleges (IPMAT, DUJAT etc.). what if I dont get selected from these entrance exams? will I have to drop a whole year and prepare again?

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 25th Jan, 2020
Hello,

Unfortunately you will have to drop because these are entrance exams are take place only once in a year and if you fail to crack then you will be in trouble if you don't have any plan for backup.
Now, there are few thing that you can do primarily to avoid a waste of 1 year.
If you are really interested in management then there are lots of college that offer BBA and BMS course where you can enroll.
If not then, try to score good marks in boards and get admission in Delhi University and do B.Com and the you can prepare for CAT and get admission in top IIMs.
You must not waste one year just for admission in a UG course and too after commerce.
So, be ready with plan B.

Now, the best plan is to study as much as hard as you can and crack the entrance exam.
This is the best option that you can actually do.

Good Luck.

I AM IN XII (CBSE) WITHOUT MATHS . AM I ELIGIBLE FOR IPMAT EXAMINATION? AND WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE REQUIRED FOR 10 AND 12 CBSE BOARD STUDENTS .BOOKS RECOMMENDED

Neeta Singla 24th Jan, 2020

Yes. According to recent changes in the eligibility you can give and are eligible for IPMAT. But the topics which the maths part of the paper covers is totally based on maths taught in 11th and 12th which might create problems for some students to cope with. Following is the link of the syllabus for IPMAT 2020 and check if you are comfortable with it-

https://bschool.careers360.com/articles/ipmat-syllabus

The exam is solely based on the exam but there is a minimum criteria for marks which you can check on-

Books- One of the best books to prepare for IPMAT is ‘Crack the IIM Indore IPM Entrance Exam’, published by Pearson and written by IIM Lucknow Alumnus Nishit Sinha. Is IPMAT exam different for IIM indore and IIM rohtak? like.. do we need to apply for both separately?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 2nd Mar, 2020
IPMAT is the entrance exam for admission to 5 year Integrated Management Course after your 12th. IPMAT has 2 sections Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability. Now QA has 60 marks allotted and VA has 40 marks. Each correct answer gets you 4 marks and a wrong answer takes away 1 mark in the form of negative marking. Though there has been no official release of any syllabus, based on examinations over the years, it has been concluded that few topics are the most covered.

CAT is the Entrance exam for admission to IIM Rohtak and other 19 IIMs for admission to their Post Graduate programmes. CAT is an online examination of 3 hours duration. The questions in the exam will be of MCQ and TITA type totaling 100 questions. MCQ are multiple choice questions, for which candidates get multiple answer choices. Each Question has 3 marks and a wrong answer takes away 1 mark. However Type in the Answer questions are exempted from Negative Marking.

CAT exam paper can be Categorised into 3 parts:

Quantitative Ability
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning

Both of them are different programmes and have different outreach.

currently in 12th STD(commerce with maths)..will be preparing for CA foundation after boards. should I go for IPMAT and DU-JAT crash course as a back-up?

Neeta Singla 22nd Jan, 2020

First and foremost you should be really sure about pursuing CA after 12th. You should know the time you have to sacrifice and the level of accountancy and understanding involved. After that you should think about anything else.

Now when you're sure about pursuing CA, keeping IP MAT or DU JAT as back up will not be useful. WHY? Because when you'll study through IPMAT you will pursue BBA+MBA through IIM Indore, then if you'll study through DU JAT you will pursue BMS, BBE or BBA(FIA). All these courses require immense time and understanding of concepts which sometimes make it difficult for the students to cope with their CA.

Rather than these deadly options, students pursuing CA take admission in B.Com or B.com (Hons) course generally in a DU college. This helps students to cope and also provides them some knowledge about their CA.

Now why preferably DU? Because of flexible timings and no BIG attendance issue which really compliments the students studying period and favours them.

BUT if you're not sure about pursuing CA or want to try it on a like more of a trial basis PLEASE keep IPMAT and DUJAT as your back up exams as these are one of the best in the field of commerce.

All the best.

how to prepare for the IPMAT exam in 3 months .. please give me full details...

Yashu Shrivastava 12th Jan, 2020

Hello

You can easily crack IPM in 3 months.I was also an IPM aspirant and i cracked the written test in preparation of just 1 month but failed in further selection process. But if you don't Mathematics subject in your+2,it can affect your performance a bit.

So I am going to give you some tips to crack IPMAT in just 3 months, but you really need to work hard for that. You should give at least 5-6 hours of study daily. As IPMAT consist of three sections that is Quantitative Ability(Short Answer Questions),Quantitative Aptitude(MCQs) and Verbal Ability (MCQ).

Here is some tips for you-

  • Join Coaching Classes - You can join coaching classes which will help you a lot. They give you guidance on how to crack it and also they provide mocks and practice interviews that will be beneficial for your selection process.
  • Read English Newspaper and Novels - You improve your vocabularies and grammar, you should start reading English Newspaper as well as English Novels for better Vocabulary and Grammar.
  • Practice Mathematics - You can check the previous year paper and first try to do those topics which comes for more marks. Most of the topics are related to 9th and 10th class Mathematics and some are from +2,so try to practice it as much as you can. This will help you to improve your speed in solving problems easily. And also please try to solve the question until you get the final result, because in Short Answer Questions, there will be no options,so you need to get the final answer to write in it.
  • Solve Mocks - You can buy or get mock test from coaching classes or online classes, solving mocks will give you an idea of how to complete your paper at what time and what type of questions will come in Exam.So try to solve as much  mocks as you can.
  • Be a time perfectionist - Always watch clock before solving a question,as it will help you to know that you are doing that question at your desired time or not and if you take more time to do that question, try to improve that. That can be your biggest weakness as many candidates who know every answer but still cannot able to crack the exam just because of time factor.

Hope This Helps

Best Of Luck!!!
