For candidates preparing for the SPJAT MBA examination, it is advisable to follow the various SPJAT MBA preparation tips to make the most out of their preparation. The strengths and weaknesses of each candidate are different and this is where the section-wise preparation tips matter. Now let us learn more about the various sections of the SPJAT MBA exam and the preparation tips.
The Diagrammatic Reasoning section of the SPJAT exam is one of the easier sections of the test. There are 7 questions in this section and the types of questions include Image Series, mirror and water images, folded images and so on. For each correct answer, the candidate is awarded 3 marks. The candidate can secure a maximum of 21 marks from this section.
| Section Name | No. of Questions | Percentage Weightage |
|---|---|---|
| Diagrammatic Reasoning | 7 | 20.59% |
This is one of the most important preparation tips related to the Diagrammatic Reasoning section. The candidate should be able to visualise the images or figures given in the questions. With the right practice and preparation, this skill can be developed.
Diagrammatic Reasoning questions cannot be complete without mirror and water image puzzles. They are important topics and candidates can expect questions from them. The candidates should understand the types of water and mirror images formed by various numbers, shapes and alphabets.
The candidates should analyse the given images properly before beginning to answer them. In questions like embedded figures, they must analyse each option and identify the best fit. Guessing or intuition cannot help the candidates in this regard.
Solving the Diagrammatic Reasoning section may confuse the candidates because some images can look similar. One of the effective SPJAT MBA preparation tips is to eliminate the wrong options. This can help candidates save time and reach the solution quickly.
This is the logical reasoning section of the SPJAT MBA exam. The logical aptitude of the candidates is put to the test in this section. Various concepts such as seating arrangements, puzzles and questions on critical reasoning are asked in this section. The level of questions is easy to moderate. With the right SPJAT MBA preparation tips, candidates can solve the questions asked from the Logic section effectively.
| Section Name | No. of Questions | Percentage Weightage |
|---|---|---|
| Logic | 6 | 17.65% |
Seating arrangement logical reasoning questions are important questions that candidates can expect in the SPJAT exam. Candidates are encouraged to draw the seating arrangement and mark each entity to make the logic clear. Once the candidate is able to devise the right seating arrangement, they can solve the questions more efficiently.
Along with seating arrangement questions, candidates should also practise condition-based puzzles. They should practise puzzles on routes and networks, ordering and ranking and other similar topics.
The candidates should also practise questions on deductive reasoning such as statements, conclusions and inference. There may be questions from deductive reasoning in the SPJAT MBA exam and the candidates must be prepared for them.
The IQ section of the SPJAT exam is an extended version of the logical section. In this section, candidates are asked questions from concepts such as pattern recognition, analogies, blood relations and mental calculations. Although the section may appear easy, the questions can be tricky at times. Candidates must focus on adequate preparation for the IQ section as well.
| Section Name | No. of Questions | Percentage Weightage |
|---|---|---|
| IQ | 6 | 17.65% |
Number Series and Patterns are common logical reasoning questions in entrance examinations. Candidates should have a strong understanding of these concepts to secure a high SPJAT MBA score. The candidate should be able to understand the pattern or relationship between a sequence of numbers or characters quickly. Regular practice is necessary.
Coding problems are also frequently asked in entrance examinations. Candidates should practise coding and decoding questions. Remembering the relative positions of alphabets, such as A - 1, J - 10, R - 18 and Z - 26, can be helpful while solving coding and decoding questions.
Time management is important in management entrance examinations and SPJAT is no exception. Candidates should solve the questions with accuracy and speed. Care must be taken while solving the problems so that simple calculations are not overlooked.
The Numeracy section of the SPJAT exam tests the quantitative skills of the candidate. Questions are asked from percentages, ratios, basic arithmetic operations, speed, distance, time, ratio and proportion, areas, volumes, algebraic expressions and linear equations. The numerical questions can be challenging and time-consuming, so proper practice is essential. The Numeracy section constitutes 40% of the entire test, making it an important section for SPJAT MBA preparation.
| Section Name | No. of Questions | Percentage Weightage |
|---|---|---|
| Numeracy | 10 | 29.41% |
Candidates should prioritise topics such as Ratio and Proportion, percentages and HCF and LCM. These topics can help candidates strengthen their basic numerical concepts.
The concepts of Geometry and Algebra are essential for securing a good score in the Numeracy section. Candidates should memorise the important equations and concepts related to mensuration.
Probability, permutations and combinations and other related topics are important for candidates. Having a strong base in these topics is essential for a better understanding of numerical questions.
Many Numeracy questions involve word problems. Candidates should get comfortable translating real-world scenarios into mathematical problems to solve the numerical questions effectively.
Reading Comprehension is one of the most common question types in management entrance examinations. In the SPJAT MBA exam, candidates are asked 5 questions from a passage and must answer based on their understanding. For each correct answer, the candidate is awarded 3 marks.
| Section Name | No. of Questions | Percentage Weightage |
|---|---|---|
| Reading Comprehension | 5 | 14.71% |
When practising Reading Comprehension, the candidate should identify the main idea of the passage first. This approach helps in understanding the overall direction of the text and answering questions efficiently.
Vocabulary questions often appear in Reading Comprehension sections. Candidates should focus on understanding how words are used in context rather than simply memorising definitions.
Many comprehension questions require candidates to make inferences. By practising how to identify implicit information and draw conclusions from textual clues, candidates can become more comfortable with such questions.
Paying attention to the author’s tone and style is important. Recognising whether the tone is critical, informative or descriptive can help candidates answer related questions more accurately.
Reading Comprehension questions can be time-consuming. Candidates should practise answering them under timed conditions to improve both reading speed and accuracy.
Candidates should start their SPJAT MBA preparation by understanding the exam pattern and syllabus. A proper preparation plan can help candidates cover the important topics and improve their overall performance.
Candidates should first go through the topics covered under Diagrammatic Reasoning, Logic, IQ, Numeracy and Reading Comprehension.
Candidates should practise questions from all sections and identify the topics where they face difficulty. More time should then be given to the weaker areas.
A section-wise study plan can help candidates give adequate time to each section and complete their preparation on time.
Time management is important while preparing for the SPJAT MBA exam as candidates have to solve questions from different sections within the prescribed time.
Candidates should solve questions within a fixed time limit to improve their speed.
If a question takes too much time, candidates should move to the next question and return to it later if time permits.
Regular practice of calculations can help candidates solve Numeracy and IQ questions faster.
Accuracy is important during SPJAT preparation. Candidates should focus on understanding the concepts and reducing avoidable mistakes while solving questions.
Candidates should check every incorrect answer and understand the reason for the mistake.
Questions based on the same concept should be practised repeatedly to improve accuracy.
Regular revision can help candidates retain formulas, concepts and important methods.
Candidates should avoid some common mistakes while preparing for the SPJAT MBA exam as they can affect their overall performance.
Candidates should not completely ignore a section because every section tests a different aptitude.
Only reading concepts is not sufficient. Regular question practice is necessary.
Candidates should analyse their mock-test performance and identify the areas that require improvement.
Candidates should follow a proper study plan instead of preparing topics randomly.
