78 percentile in CAT is a relatively low percentile to get a call from the top B schools in India or from IIMs. It also depends on the category you belong to. Looking at this from the perspective of a student with SC category, I would

Your academic scores look decent. However every IIM has a way to. Shortlist candidates in Which CAT percentile is a very very important factor. In spite of having a decent profile of your CAT score Is low you may probably not get any call .

For GMERS sola, Ahmedabad

Open Category(Government seats)- Rank must be between 45000 to 46000

NRI quota- Rank must be below 500000

What if a student have taken a gap for preperation of cat and still have not scored good precentile in it. What to do in this case?

Hi Aspirant,
If you have not scored well,then going to colleges which do not have good placement records will not be of much use,as mba fees are usually very high.
So,take your time and prepare well and try to score in excess of 90 percentile to get into good colleges.
