i just came in final year of my bcom ill probably complete the same by july 2024 if ill appear for cat 2024 will it be counted as gap year or not....if it will count as gap than how can i justify it...please give me suggestions.

Yash 19th Oct, 2024

The duration of time between the completion of your graduation and your admission to the business school will be considered as a gap year. Therefore, considering the fact that you will complete your graduation in May, 2024 and get admission to an MBA college in May, 2025 after completion of your entire selection process, this will be considered a one-year gap. However, technically it will be a 6 to 7 months gap only between the completion of your graduation and appearance in the entrance examination.

However, there is no need to worry about this one-year gap as you can easily justify it during the Personal Interview process. You can justify this gap by doing Internships, Certificate courses, pursuing something related to your area of interest, making the interviewer realize the need to invest substantial amount of time in entrance exam preparation or by any other legit means. This gap year will not impact your selection chances in the business school.

pursuing bcom ews female candidate got 70% in12th and 80% in 10th how much percentile in cat to crack a call from iim banglore

Yash 22nd Oct, 2024

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the most important component to get admission in IIM Bangalore. In order to get admission in IIM Bangalore, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. There is no specific percentile stated by the institute which will give you a 100% guarantee to get a WATPI shortlist. Even scoring a high percentile in the CAT will not give you a guarantee to get an interview call as it depends upon various factors.

IIM Bangalore gives consideration to a number of factors while giving an interview call. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity, etc. Your first priority should be to clear both the overall percentile of 75 and sectional percentile of 70 in all three sections.

However, even if you score 95 percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm Interview call. Therefore, the CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the major criteria for admission.

The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation, work experience, academic, and gender diversity will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI process and during your final selection.

how should i write my middle name in cat application? My name as per my board exam i Praneeth S Kadagi, so should i just write it as S or write the name of my my father ?

ayanmukherjee045 18th Aug, 2023

Hello Praneeth,

I am also appearing for the cat examination this year. As far as your query is concerned I would suggest you to right your  father's name(which is starting with S) in the middle if it is also mentioned in your aadhar card and pan card .

And if by any chance it is mentioned only the initials S in your pan/aadhar card then I would suggest you should fill only S in the cat application form.

Note :-

Keep in mind that your name in the application form should match with what is mentioned in your aadhar card /pan card .

Aspiring candidates have the opportunity to apply for all MBA or PGDM programs across these 20 IIMs by completing the CAT 2023 application process. No additional fees are incurred for applying to these IIMs, and candidates can select multiple courses as per their preference.

i hope this answered your question.

I have 91.8% in 10th, 83% in 12th and 7.7 CGPA in B.Tech. , I will be giving my CAT in 2024, how much percentile will I need for old and new IIMs?

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the most important components to get admission in old and new IIMs. In order to get admission in IIMs, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. The CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the major criteria for admission. The cutoffs will depend upon the category from which you belong to. The cutoffs might be lower for candidates who belong to the reserved category.

The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation, work experience, academic, and gender diversity will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI process and your performance in the WATPI round will play a major role during your final selection.

EWS female pursuing bcom got 70% in 12 and 80% in 10th how much should i target in CAT to get into iim banglore and other iims with zero wrk experience

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the most important components to get admission in IIM Bangalore or any other IIMs. In order to get admission in IIMs, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. There is no specific percentile stated by the IIMs which will give you a 100% WATPI shortlist. If you have no work experience, it will not be a disadvantage as a number of candidates who get admission in the IIMs are freshers with no work experience. You will not get the marks allotted for work experience.

However, even if you score 95 percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm WATPI call. Therefore, the CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the major criteria for admission.

The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, Graduation, academic, and gender diversity will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI process along with the CAT score and your performance in the WATPI round will play a major role during your final selection.
