Please give some tips to prepare FOR GD/PI

Ankur Sehgal 29th Dec, 2017

Hey

"Nobody wants to lose. Everybody is here to win. But only the person who has the willingness to 'prepare to win', wins."

You need to take care one thing, GD is not a selection round, GD is basically rejection round. You need to focus on few points for GD preparation which is listed below:

1. Get rid of speaking fear: You need to practice with your friends, take mock group discussions in class, If you can command over fear, then you will be able to outperform as compared to other candidates.

2. Have faith in your abilities: A battle is half won if you are mentally ready for it, and if you prepare hard, that will give you necessary confidence to win

3. Read Newspaper: As simple as it sounds, but most important for vocabulary building, content making, also to stay updated around the world.

4. Content is king: The quality of your content will depend on the ability to think at your feet. You need to present surveys, analysis to score well in GD.

5. Listening and Presentation, a must: You need to be a good listener, so that you can catch up with points of other member and carry on GD, also your content should be presented with "soft" words.

For Personal Interviews, you need to know about yourself in complete detail. Some of the tips are:

1. Stick to precise and honest answers, as you will be caught for fake and creamy answers. You need to present the truth about yourself but molded with soft words.

2. Formulate answers to questions which can be asked in PI, this will help you in upcoming interviews.

3. Also, all the questions will be asked from your answers only. So, present your answers in such a way that you are master in that area.

4. Questions can be asked from Work-Experience, business world, general awareness, tackling a situation.

So, all you need is to practice well. As it will help you in upcoming interviews also.

All the Best!

why difficulty level of ibsat exam is so easy? does it mean that one going to do MBA of low grade? same platform, but CAT and ibsat?

Akshay Kadam 4th Dec, 2017

No, you should not judge any MBA degree on the basis of the difficulty level of exam. It's a way of conducting exam by different colleges. CAT exam is conducted by one of the old IIM and especially for admission in IIM. Although being one of the most popular exams it's score is accepted by most of the colleges for giving admission.

Now if question paper is difficult then it will be difficult for everyone and you will be getting good percentile even in low marks because everyone will have a hard time and if it is easy then you will need to get very high marks for good percentile because everyone will be scoring very high. So what I mean to say these are competitive exams used to evaluate students among each other so that the best students are selected. So you don't need to judge on the basis of difficulty level.

Also what I think is IIMs make CAT exam a little more difficult because the number of students appearing in the exam is way higher than any other MBA exam held in India. So with an increase in difficulty level, it is easier to sort out the gems whereas IBSAT exam is only conducted at 9 ICFAI business school.

Obviously, IIMs or some of the private colleges in which you get admission through CAT exam are way better in every aspect then IBS colleges. So you can compare your future with the quality of college in which you are going to pursue your MBA degree rather than the quality of exam.

On an individual basis, if I don't compare IBS with IIMs or other top private colleges that some of the IBS colleges like IBS Hyderabad, Gurgaon are decent colleges.

All the best!!

How to prepare for ibsat exams?. Can you suggest how much time should we invest in Quant, English and DI section daily?

Anangsha Patra 30th Nov, 2017

Hello,

  • Go through the IBSAT previous year question papers to understand the structure of the exam. Also, try solving them within the 120 minutes and analyze the answers after completing the paper.
  • Keep a check on the speed while solving the questions. Time management is very important as the candidates will get only a minute for each question. To improve in this part, solve sample papers and appear for mock tests.
  • Since IBS is a Computer Based test, the candidates are advised to appear for as many mock tests as possible. The online mock test will provide a similar environment as that of the exam.
  • Do not lose confidence and do not get nervous in the exam or solving the sample papers. Go through the questions carefully and try to understand them and then solve them.
  • Try reading newspapers, magazines, novels, books, journals, etc. for a better hold over vocabulary.
  • It is important to focus on all the subjects. The candidates must analyse their strong and weak areas as this will make it easier for them to find out the areas that they need to focus on. This will also help them create a plan of preparation. One of the best ways to identify the weak and strong areas is to take mock tests.

Please tell me how to prepare for ibsat and cmat by own.... recommend me with some online books..etc..

Gaurav Shukla 2nd Jan, 2018
Hello,
Well my friend for cmat you can do this.

CMAT Preparation Strategy

The paper can be split into three parts: concept driven, practice intensive and environment sensitive. Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation and select areas of Language Comprehension are concept driven. Questions on these areas are difficult to attempt without concept clarity and hence it is advised to brush up the key fundamentals in these areas. Logical Reasoning is a purely practice intensive section and the comfort level here is directly proportional to practicing across similar questions. General Awareness is environment sensitive and can be best prepared by a dichotomous approach, viewing the section as a make up of current and static awareness.

How can I prepare for GK for CMAT?

This question previously had details. They are now in a comment.
